Trust plays an important role in human life and society. This chapter analyses the role of trust in the epistemology of testimony. It presents the anti-social epistemology of black metal, mainly based on the interpretation of the lyrics from songs by Gorgoroth and another Norwegian black metal band from the same wave. Starting with some conceptual analysis, several philosophers classify trust as a kind of reliance. Assuming for the sake of argument that trust provides an epistemic boost as the assurance theorists claim, in the good scenario where the informant really is trustworthy one may miss out epistemically, as well as morally and socially by treating people like thermometers, but in the bad scenario, the evil environment the metalhead thinks they inhabit, where most informants in fact are untrustworthy, and are safeguarded from a massive load of misinformation.
