The shift towards remote and hybrid work enables people to pursue individual lifestyles, further away from their place of work. However, remote areas typically face challenges related to service provision and social activities. Using a qualitative case study approach, the paper investigates how circular business model innovation (CBMI) unfolds in a collaborative ecosystem of small enterprises located in rural Sweden: 'Climbers' Hub', comprising coworking, hotel, and climbing related services. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document review, and analysed using existing knowledge of CBMI. The study finds that CBMI benefits from holistic circular, community-and place-based strategies and objectives, resulting in ecosocial benefits. Through the CBMI lens, the study offers novel insights into how small enterprises operate in a rural context. The knowledge generated is valuable to researchers and educators seeking to understand CBMI, and to practitioners who aim to implement circular business models (CBM) in small enterprises.
