Abstract [en]

Environmental concerns have become increasingly significant in today’s world, with issues like waste reduction and environmental protection gaining prominence. This shift has sparked growing interest in sustainable and eco-friendly chitin-based rubber composite materials, which are now being recognized in both industrial and academic fields. Although rubber-based composites, including nanocomposites, are widely used, chitin-based rubber bionanocomposites are emerging, and many of their products are still in development. Chitin, the second most available polysaccharide after cellulose, holds potential as a natural fiber to replace synthetic fibers in various applications, these materials could play critical roles in industries and everyday life. This chapter focuses on the implications of chitin-based rubber bionanocomposites in both industrial and nonindustrial contexts, providing an overview of preparation techniques, properties, limitations, and future directions
