The HR profession encompasses several different aspects that require both theoretical and practical understanding. At Örebro University, the Human Resources and Work Life Program is offered for individuals who wish to work within personnel and organizational issues. At the same time, many employers demand experience, which can create challenges for recent graduates who have not yet had the opportunity to develop practical experience in the field. This study examines how recent graduates from the Human Resources and Work Life Program at Örebro University experience the transition from education to working life. To answer the aim and research questions of the study, a qualitative data collection method was used. Through qualitative interviews, the graduates’ experiences of the program’s theoretical content, practical application, and the establishment of opportunities in the labor market were captured. The empirical material was analyzed using thematic analysis, with situated learning and Bourdieu’s concepts of field and capital as the theoretical framework. The results of the study show that recent graduates from the Human Resources and Work Life Program at Örebro University perceive the program as theoretically oriented. It is evident that the respondents experience the transition from education to working life as difficult. The respondents feel that the program provides a solid foundation for working life, while at the same time expressing a clear desire for more practical elements in the education.

HR-yrket innefattar flera olika aspekter som kräver både teoretisk och praktisk förståelse. På Örebro universitet erbjuds personalvetarprogrammet för individer som vill arbeta inom personal- och organisationsfrågor. Samtidigt efterfrågar många arbetsgivare erfarenhet, vilket kan skapa utmaningar för nyexaminerade studenter som inte hunnit utveckla praktisk erfarenhet inom yrket. I denna studie undersöks hur nyexaminerade från personalvetarprogrammet vid Örebro universitet upplever övergången från utbildningen till arbetslivet. För att besvara undersökningens syfte och frågeställningar har en kvalitativ datainsamlingsmetod använts. Med hjälp av kvalitativa intervjuer har nyexaminerades upplevelser av utbildningens teoretiska innehåll, praktiska tillämpning och etableringen av möjligheter på arbetsmarknaden fångats. Det empiriska materialet analyserades utifrån en tematisk analys med situerat lärande och Bourdieus fält-, och kapitalteori som teoretisk bakgrund. Studiens resultat visar att nyexaminerade från personalvetarprogrammet vid Örebro universitet upplever utbildningen som teoretisk upplagd. Det är tydligt att respondenterna upplever övergången från utbildningen till arbetslivet som svår. Respondenterna upplever att utbildningen lägger en bra grund för arbetslivet, samtidigt som en önskan om mer praktiska moment är tydlig bland respondenterna.
