VYRIY is a complex of works built on the experience of living in Sweden as a Ukrainian refugee. 

"Vyriy" (from Ukrainian "Вирій") - is a mythical place in many Slavic beliefs where birds fly to for winter and souls go after death. The exhibition room at Galleri Mejan transforms into a fantastical escapism chamber where I undulge in nostalgia over the memories of my hometown recreated in digital 3D software, a sci-fi rendition of a refugee story told through a comic about a lone astronaut far away in space, and a VR installation that blends familiar Stockholm T-bana designs with the alienating and lonely visuals of a space station. As you prepare to exit the exhibition space you are confronted with one more work - "Waiting", LED display that shows live uodating air raid alerts in Ukraine. It serves as a reminder of what has put me in this situation in the first place, but also as a key to breaking free from the escapist dreaming, a way out into the real world.
