Philips Data Systems var en av få europeiska datorsystemtillverkare som lyckades inta en världsledande position inom ett avsevärt stort marknadssegment för datorsystem under en längre tid. Philips Data Systems was one of the few European computer system manufacturers that managed to occupy the top spot worldwide in a large computer systems market segment over a considerable amount of time. In this case, it was the segment of front-office banking systems from circa 1975 to 1985. After a long development period, together with the pilot customer Svenska Handelsbanken, regular production shipments of its front-end banking computer systems commenced in early 1973. This book follows the PTS front-office banking systems from the first pilot customer, via the role as the world-leading manufacturer, to the wrong decisions that lead to the decline.
