Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

This thesis applies the Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HCAI) framework, proposed by Ben Shneiderman, and explores the integration of generative AI in the workflows of visual artists. Through qualitative studies, the experiences and reflections of six participants with different backgrounds in visual arts, such as graphic illustration, architecture, photography, and painting, were examined. The analysis of the results highlights both opportunities and challenges in artistic expression and ethics. Participants found that generative AI could be valuable for ideation, exploration, and learning, while also emphasizing the need for improved customization and control. The study provides insights into how future tools in generative AI can be developed for artistic purposes and promote a human-centered use of the technology, aligning with HCAI principles to enhance user control and creativity. Future research could explore long-term impacts, development for specific visual artistic fields, inclusivity, and sustainability.
