The study aims to reach a perception over how the citizens feel about the strategy of extinguishing the street lights in the municipality. What do the citizens think about turning off the street lights in the municipality? And in what way does it affect citizens´s safety? Previous research covers how safety aspects are affected by the dimmed lightning, which is then discussed and analysed in the analysis with connections to the result of the study. The result clearly shows that the majority of the respondents that contributed in the study, have a negative attitude towards the strategy of extinguishing street lights in Kristinehamns municipality. The citizens express that it affects their safety in several respects. The analysis presents that lightning aspects should receive more atttention in muncipal planning, as it affects people´s safety in several respects. 

Studien syftar till att få en uppftattning om hur medborgarna ställer sig till Kristinehamns kommuns stratergi att släcka ned gatubelysning i kommunen. Vad anser medborgarna om nedsläckning av gatubelysning i Kristinehamns kommun och på vilket sätt påverkar det medborgarnas trygghet? Den tidigare forskning tar upp hur trygghetsaspekter påverkas av nedsläckning som sedan diskuteras och analyseras i analysdeln med kopplingar till resultatet från enkätundersökningen. Resultatet visar tydligt att majoriteten av respondenterna som deltog i studien, har en negativ inställning till stratergin att släcka ned gatubelysning i Kristinehamns kommun. Medborgare uttrycker att det påverkar deras trygghet i flera avseenden. Analysen redovisar att belysnings aspekter bör uppmärksammas mer i kommunal planering, då det påverkar människors trygghet i flera avseenden.
