| Publications from Växjö UniversityThe database can be searched in two different ways:
Field SearchingThis is the most efficient method to find publications of which you already know e.g. the title or name of the author. In field search, either diacritics or basic characters can be used. Example: the name Åhman can be searched either as Åhman or Ahman. When searching two or more words in one field, e.g. title, the query terms can either be entered exactly in the order they appear in the documents (phrase searching) or combined with the operators (AND, OR and NOT). Example: the query terms 'indoor environment' in the title field will only return documents where the terms appear next to each other in the title in that order. If the operator AND is used instead (indoor AND environment) all documents containing both terms, irrespective of their order, will be returned. FieldsAuthor:Enter the last name or the first name of the author (or both) from the beginning in the search boxes. Also, the author's initials can be entered. Example: "Ström" will return Ström. The name can also be entered as "Strom". Example:"A" in the first name field and "S" in the last name field will return the name "Anna Ström". Title: and Series:Enter one or more words that appear next to each other in the title. If more than one word is entered, a phrase search is performed. Subtitles or alternative titles will be searched as well. Example: The query terms "indoor environment" will only return documents where the terms appear next to each other in the title in that order (phrase searching). They can be combined using the operator AND (environment AND indoor) to return all documents containing both terms, irrespective of their order. Year:Enter four figures (YYYY). ISBN:The number must be entered including hyphens. Example: 91-554-4984-0, not 9155449840 Department:Departments are selected from a drop-down menu. * indicates that a department has been closed down, split up or merged. Freetext SearchingThis method is suitable for more general searches. Freetext searching includes the abstracts of the publications. Other searchable fields are author, title, series and department. Operators* represents zero or more characters.Example: horse* will return documents containing horse, horses, horseshoe etc. Example: Sund*ist will return documents containing Sundkvist, Sundqvist och Sundquist. _ represents zero ore one character.Example: wom?n will return documents containing both woman and women. Example: Sund??ist will return documents containing Sundkvist, Sundqvist and Sundquist. AND is used to search for documents that contain at least one occurrence of each of the query terms.Example: traffic AND route will return all documents that contain both terms. OR is used to search for documents that contain at least one occurrence of any of the query terms.Example: traffic OR driving will return all documents that contain any or all of the terms. NOT is used to search for documents that contain one query term and not another.Example: traffic NOT driving will return all documents that contain traffic but not driving. Several operators can be combined in one search.Example: (indoor OR school) AND environment will return all documents including environment and either indoor or school.
