    Abstract [en]

    INTRODUCTION: The molecular mechanisms behind poor foetal growth are not fully known. The aim of this study was to explore global microRNA expression in placentas of infants born small for gestational age (SGA) compared to infants with a normal birth weight (NBW).

    METHODS: Placental biopsies from term infants were identified in a biobank and divided into four groups: infants born SGA with (n = 13) or without (n = 9) exposure to low maternal gestational weight gain (GWG) and infants born with NBWs with (n = 20) or without (n = 26) exposure to low GWG. All women and infants were healthy, and no woman smoked during pregnancy. Only vaginal deliveries were included. Next-generation sequencing was performed with single read sequencing of >9 million reads per sample. Differential microRNA expression was analysed using ANOVA for unequal variances (Welch) with multiple testing corrections through the Benjamini-Hochberg method. A fold change >2 and a corrected p value < 0.05 were considered significant. Adjustments for possible confounding factors were made using a linear regression model.

    RESULTS: A total of 1870 known, mature human microRNAs were detected in the sample. MiR-3679-5p and miR-193b-3p were significantly upregulated, and miR-379-3p, miR-335-3p, miR-4532, miR-519e-3p, miR-3065-5p, and miR-105-5p were significantly downregulated after adjustment for potential confounding factors in SGA infants with normal GWG compared to infants with NBWs and normal GWG.

    DISCUSSION: Infants born unexplained SGA show differential microRNA expression in their placenta. Important pathways for the differentially expressed microRNAs include inflammation and the insulin-IGF system.

    Abstract [en]

    In this essay I have examined the inclusion in the school, specifically in the classroom and leisure time center. Inclusion means briefly that all students, regardless of their capability for school work, should be part of the planned teaching, and also be able to assimilate the knowledge that is intended to be conveyed. During my years as an educator in classroom and after-school center I've seen how this inclusion is very complicated to implement and sometimes impracticable. I have investigated how inclusion works and how it does not work in both the classroom and in the leisure time center. I have done this by examining the inclusion from three different perspectives: student´s, educator´s and school´s. I show and discuss how different inclusion can be perceived depending on which perspective you look from. I also describe how inclusion is shaped, both positively and negatively, by external factors, so-called framework factors. I discuss how these framework factors provide or do not provide educational opportunities and how they condition the educator´s practice. Opportunities that sometimes are taken advantage of and sometimes overlooked.

    Abstract [en]

    After the Paris agreement 2015 the Energy Commission in Sweden proposed a goal for Sweden of net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045. The focus in this report has been on how buildings in Sweden could reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. Year 2017 the government gave a task for Boverket in Sweden (National Board of Housing, Building and Planning) to investigate the possibility to introduce a climate declaration on buildings. The idea is a life cycle analysis (LCA) should be performed on the building in order to get a building permit. An LCA include all CO2 emissions emitted from resources used for raw material extraction, production of materials, construction site operations, user phase and also the demolition and disposal in the end of life of the building. The first draft from Boverket was published in February 2018 where they recommended a simple declaration. They recommended in the beginning to only include a few components in the declaration, and to only include the production phase. The major interest in this report have been to gain more understanding on how to perform LCAs and also how the LCA result could be used to decrease CO2 emissions. A case study was made on a residential building project called Mården, in Umeå Sweden.

    The first part in this thesis was to determine the phase in the buildings life cycle with the largest potential for decreasing CO2 emissions. When the LCA was performed on case study building Mården it was difficult to use exact data, since only 20 % of the construction products where declared in an environmental product declaration (EPD). Therefore the other 80 % where approximated with similar products declared in an EPD, or with generic data (general data for a type of product). An EPD is an LCA on a single product and could therefore give exact information on CO2 emissions for a specific product. However, several improvements where implemented in the buildings life cycle and where compared with this reference case. The result from the LCA showed the energy use in the user phase emitted the largest amount of CO2 emissions, and therefore also where the phase with the largest potential for reducing CO2 emissions. When the Swedish district heating mix where replaced with an energy source with 50 % less CO2 emissions, the emissions for the whole life cycle could be decreased with 20 %. Smaller improvements such as more environmental friendlier concrete, shorter transport distance between manufacturer and construction site or less water usage resulted in a decrease by 1.6-7 %. It was though shown these smaller improvement could result in a large decrease of CO2 emissions if more buildings also would improve the same thing. 2.4 million tons of CO2 emissions could for example be reduced in Sweden if 50 % of Sweden’s all new building projects would improve their choice of concrete. To make sure buildings could reduce their CO2 emissions there is important LCAs are performed before the building is constructed, to make sure all phases in the life cycle can be improved. If an LCA will be performed when the building is constructed, it is only possible to improve a few parts in the user phase, since the other phases already have passed.

    The second part in this thesis was to compare the different LCA softwares; (i) One Click LCA (needs license, from Finland), (ii) e-tool (free, from Australia) and (iii) BM (free, from Sweden). When more exact data were tried to be used in e-tool and One Click LCA the results were similar for the CO2 emissions from the production phase. E-tool only resulted in 6 % higher CO2 emissions in the production phase than One Click LCA. The LCA in the eventual future climate declaration will probably be performed with generic data, since in an early stage the contractors will not have detailed information on their construction products. An LCA was thus performed in each software with generic data, and the result differed a lot. The CO2 emissions from the production phase resulted in 36 % and 23 % less CO2 emissions in BM and e-tool than in One Click LCA. If several softwares will be allowed in this eventual climate declaration, the judgment could be difficult since different generic data is used in each sofware. The generic data were also different for one type of product in a single software, where the CO2 emission could differ with as much as 50 % between two types of generic data for one type of products. This leads to a difficulty when choosing generic data since there will be lack of information on the construction products at the time when this eventual climate declaration should be performed. A main focus for the future development should be on evaluating a standard database that could be used in EU.

    If a future law will be implemented it could be valuable to declare detailed rules on how to perform the LCA. Since depending on who will perform the LCA different results could occur due to different data used or assumptions on things like products, boundaries or used resource. However, this master thesis has shown there is possible to use the LCA methodology to find solutions for decreasing the CO2 emissions for buildings.

    Abstract [en]

    A new electronic portal imaging device, EPID, is under development at the Karolinska Institutet and the Royal Institute of Technology. Due to considerable demands on radiation tolerance in the radiotherapy environment, a dedicated electronic readout system has been designed. The most interesting aspect of the readout system is that it allows to read out similar to 1000 pixels in parallel, with all electronics placed outside the radiation beam-making the detector more radiation resistant. In this work we are presenting the function of a small prototype (6 x 100 pixels) of the electronic readout board that has been tested. Tests were made with continuous X-rays (10-60 keV) and with alpha particles. The results show that, without using an optimised gas mixture and with an early prototype only, the electronic readout system still works very well.

    Abstract [en]

    The purpose of this master thesis was to develop an intelligent name card with use of RFID technology, wireless transmission of information.

    While the master thesis I studied different RFID standards to find an appropriate standard. I chose the ISO 15693 standard for it's simplicity and it's cheap, unfortunately it not have the highest memory capacity of the different standards.

    Next part of the thesis was to program the graphical user interface, and together with a RFID reader be able to read and write to the transponder. Unfortunately I have not got the serial interface (RS-232) to work, instead I have simulate the Reader with the command shell (DOS-window).

    When develop the GUI I chose to use java because to make the program platform independent.

    The last part was to propose the hardware, it basically consist of three parts: a micro controller, a transceiver chip and an antenna. The microcontroller is used for interface and buffer between the host computer and the transceiver chip. The transceiver chip converts the data signals to radio signals and controls the transmission. The antenna can be printed on the circuit board.

    The RFID tags on the market today have not enough memory to store pictures.

    New Efficient Detector for Radiation Therapy Imaging using Gas Electron Multipliers2006Doctoral thesis, comprehensive summary (Other academic)
    Abstract [en]

    Currently film is being replaced by electronic detectors for portal imaging in radiation therapy. This development offers obvious advantages such as on-line quality assurance and digital images that can easily be accessed, processed and communicated. In spite of the improvements, the image quality has not been significantly enhanced, partly since the quantum efficiency compared to film is essentially the same, and the new electronic devices also suffer from sensitivity to the harsh radiation environment. In this thesis we propose a third generation electronic portal imaging device with increased quantum efficiency and potentially higher image quality.

    Due to the parallel readout capability it is much faster than current devices, providing at least 200 frames per second (fps), and would even allow for a quality assurance and adaptive actions after each accelerator pulse. The new detector is also sensitive over a broader range of energies (10 keV - 50 MeV) and can be used to obtain diagnostic images immediately prior to the treatment without repositioning the patient. The imaging could be in the form of portal imaging or computed tomography. The new detector is based on a sandwich design containing several layers of Gas Electron Multipliers (GEMs) in combination with, or integrated with, perforated converter plates. The charge created by the ionizing radiation is drifted to the bottom of the assembly where a tailored readout system collects and digitizes the charge. The new readout system is further designed in such a way that no sensitive electronics is placed in the radiation beam and the detector is expected to be radiation resistant since it consists mainly of kapton, copper and gas.

    A single GEM detector was responding linearly when tested with a 50 MV photon beam at a fluence rate of ~1010 photons mm-2 s-1 during 3-5 μs long pulses, but also with x-ray energies of 10-50 keV at a fluence rate of up to ~108 photons mm-2 s-1. The electron transmission of a 100 μm thick Cu plate with an optical transparency of ~46% was found to be ~15.4%, i.e. the effective hole transmission for the electrons was about one third of the hole area. A low effective GEM gain is enough to compensate for the losses in converters of this dimension. A prototype for the dedicated electronic readout system was designed with 50 x 100 pixels at a pitch of 1.27 mm x 1.27 mm. X-ray images were achieved with a single GEM layer and also in a double GEM setup with a converter plate interleaved. To verify the readout speed a Newton pendulum was imaged at a frame rate of 70 fps and alpha particles were imaged in 188 fps. The experimental studies indicates that the existing prototype can be developed as a competitive alternative for imaging in radiation therapy.

    Uppsatsen behandlar fusioner i helägda dotterbolag, vilket är den vanligaste formen av fusion. Arbetet syftar till en ökad förståelse av problematiken genom att se på hela livscykeln från omstrukturering, till konsolidering och vidare till själva fusionen med tillhörande problem, vilka främst inriktas på koncernmässig goodwill. Uppsatsen tar sin utgångspunkt i externredovisningen och jämför hur denna samverkar med beskattningen. Inom redovisningen råder förvirring då olika regler gäller för olika typer av bolag, vägen mot internationell harmonisering är lång och förenklingsarbetet går trögt. Harmoniseringen av skatte- och civilrätten har varit mer lyckat. Regleringen från EU har utökats och inom kort finns möjligheter till internationell fusion. Vid en fusion spelar de övervägande företaget har gjort vid förvärvsanalysen och den efterföljande konsolideringen en stor roll för hur värdena överförs till det övertagande bolaget. Redovisningen för över till koncernmässiga värden, medan beskattningen kräver skattemässiga/bokföringsmässiga värden. Problemet har i huvudsak lösts genom att uppskrivning av tillgångar anses tillåtna skattemässigt om dessa tas upp till beskattning. På detta sätt kan redovisning och beskattning alltså ändock utgå från samma värden. Då koncernmässig goodwill finns i koncernredovisningen innan fusionen uppstår ändock problem. Posten härrör sig inte till dotterbolagets räkenskaper såsom beskattningen kräver. Problemet har lösts genom att goodwill inte anses förvärvad av dotterbolaget, vilket krävs enligt skatterätten. Detta medför nekad avdragsrätt vid påföljande avskrivningar. Redovisningen och beskattningen utgår härmed från olika värden i denna situation. Förslag till framtida forskning ligger i hur internationella fusioner kommer att utvecklas praktiskt. Det skulle också vara intressant att se hur fissioner kommer att användas samt i vilken utsträckning de olika omstruktureringsalternativen används i förhållande till varandra i praktiken.

    I denna rapport undersökts effect förbrukning och uppmätt antal Lumen för en rad olika LED-lampor, reslutatet jämförs sedan med specifikationerna för respektive lampa. Slutsatsen är att även fast det är problematiskt att mäta antalet Lumen från en lampa, så går det att uppvisa liknande resultat som förpackningen påvisar. Effektförbruknings mätningar har mindre felkällor vilket ger ett noggrannare resultat.

    Abstract [en]

    For many decades there has been a need in many industries to measure speed and position of ferrous gears. This is commonly done by converting passing gear teeth from trigger wheels to electrical impulses to calculate speed and angular position.

    By using Hall effect sensors or Giant Magnetoresistance sensors (GMR), a zero speed detection of gear teeth is possible while at the same time be cheap to produce and durable for harsh environments.

    A specially designed trigger-wheel (cogwheel created for measurements) with gear teeth in a specific pattern, exact position can be detected by using a dual sensor, even when no earlier information is available. The new design of trigger-wheel also makes this new method more accurate and universal compared to previous solutions.

    This thesis demonstrates and argues for the advantages of using a dual sensor for speed and angular position detection on gear wheels. Were one sensor do quantitative measurements for pattern detection in the teeth arrangements and the other sensor do qualitative measurements for position detection.

    In the wake of the Second World War, Germany saw an intensive debate about the idea of the university and its future role in society. All were agreed that the country's universities had to be revitalized after the ravages of Nazism, but the question was what weight should be given to the classical German heritage, and the Humboldtian tradition in particular. The mandarins, the older humanist scholars, dominated the public debate about the fundamental principles of research and higher education, and this essay focuses on the contribution made by three of themKarl Jaspers, Gerhard Ritter, and Werner Richter. In making their points, they all revealed a strong historical orientation, but equally very different views on the Humboldtian legacy. This essay argues that their ideas about the German university must be seen against the background of the specific experiences of their generation. In the event, the immediate post-war period was the last time their academic ideals were to gain much of a hearing. The university debate proved to be the swansong for Germany's intellectual elite.

    Den akademiska forskningen kring aktieavkastningen för nyintroducerade bolag har konstaterat förekomsten av två anomalier: kortsiktig överavkastning kombinerat med en långsiktig underavkastning. I denna studie analyseras kursutvecklingen för 84 nyintroduktioner genomförda på Stockholmsbörsen under perioden 1996-2000, i syfte att klarlägga huruvida dessa genererar en långsiktig över- eller underavkastning. Härutöver kvantifieras den s.k. underprissättningen, d.v.s. skillnaden mellan introduktionskurs och första handelsdagens slutkurs. För beräkning av den långsiktiga avkastningen används metoderna Cumulative Abnormal Return (CAR) och Buy-and-Hold Return (BHR), som båda bygger på en jämförelse av aktiens avkastning med ett lämpligt benchmark. I denna studie används Affärsvärldens branschindex. Den långsiktiga kursutvecklingen studeras för perioder om 12, 24 och 36 handelmånader.

    I denna utredning kommer vi att titta närmare på vad som händer med aktiepriset på Stockholmsbörsen när de blir upptagna eller uteslutna från listor/index. Syftet med uppsatsen är att se om det finns en prisförändring för aktier som kan härledas till händelsen att de har adderats/uteslutits från listor/index som återfinns på Stockholmsbörsen. Fiiner vi att ett sådant samband föreligger så skall vi studera hur stor denna förändring är. Vi har testat våra hypoteser med ett t-test, samt grafiskt visat den kumulativa frekvensen för aktiernas över-/underkastning jämfört med marknaden. Vi har inte hittat något generellt statistiskt säkerställt samband mellan förändring i aktiepriset och den händelse att aktien adderas elller uteslutits från index, utifrån de statistiska metoder som vi har används oss av.

    Abstract [en]

    This thesis is an observational study regarding group education in violin and viola at the Swedish Municipal School of Arts. As an object of study, group teaching in violin and viola was chosen. Both instruments have a long tradition of individual teaching, but also group teaching in ensemble form, not seldom combined, which means an individual lesson and an ensemble lesson. The purpose of the study was to investigate the form and structure of such group education and to get a closer look at how pupils and teachers interacted in that form of teaching. The study has a multimodal social semiotic and ethnographic methodological approach, and investigate through a combination of these, implemented through observation of teaching as well as transcription and analysis of selected parts recorded in audio and video. The observant was present but was not participating in the teaching process. Two municipal schools of arts, where the violin and viola education has a long and substantial tradition, were selected, and some of the teachers at these schools were chosen to participate in the study. The results show that the education formed the way that the pupil mimicked the teacher, that the teacher often helped the pupils to adjust and place the instrument, and that singing or different frames was used for rhythm learning. Differences were identified regarding teaching in bigger versus smaller groups by form and structure as well as how the participants interacted, communicated and applied knowledge from each other. The result gives an insight into how group teaching in violin and viola at two municipal schools of arts in Stockholm might function, and contributes to further research regarding group education.

    Function and regulation of the Yeast Mig1 repressor1998Doctoral thesis, comprehensive summary (Other academic)
    Abstract [en]

    Glucose repression is a global regulatory response in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Thus, in the presence of glucose, the preferred carbon source, expression of many genes encoding proteins required for metabolism of other carbon sources are turned off.

    An important mediator of glucose repression is the Mig1 repressor. It is a DNA binding transcription factor that has two zinc fingers of the C2H2 type. When glucose is available, Mig1 binds to the promotors of glucose repressed genes and is then thought to recruit a large co-repressor complex, consisting of the Cyc8/Ssn6 and Tup1 proteins. Mig1 is negatively regulated by the Snf1 protein kinase, a protein which is essential for the expression of all glucose repressed genes in yeast.

    In this work, domains within the Mig1 repressor were characterized that mediate its carbon source regulation and its function as a repressor. An extensive deletion analysis of Mig1 revealed that an effector domain of 24 amino acid residues in the extreme C-terminus of the protein is important for repression. The C-terminal effector domain is structurally and functionally conserved also in the Mig1 homologues from the distantly related yeasts Kluyveromyces lactis and K. marxianus. A combined deletion analysis and alanine scanning mutagenesis of the effector domain in K. marxianus revealed that three leucines and one isoleucine are particularly important for its function in vivo.

    The deletion analysis of the Mig1 from S. cerevisiae also revealed that two internal domains, R1 and R2, are important for the regulation of Mig1 by glucose. Thus, a deletion of either R1 or R2 converts Mig1 to a constitutive repressor. Further experiments were conducted with a Mig1-VP16 hybrid activator in which the C-terminal effector domain was replaced by the activating, domain from the viral protein VP16 The analysis revealed that this hybrid activator is negatively regulated by Snf1. We further found that Mig1-VP16 is phosphorylated in the absence of glucose, and that this phosphorylation is dependent on Snf1. Point mutations in Mig1 -VP16 identified three serines that are important both for Snf1 control of Mig1-VP16 activity and for phosphorylation in the absence of glucose. Two of the serines are located in the R1 domain within sequence motifs similar to a consensus in vitro target site for Snf1. The third serine, which does not resemble the Snf1 consensus target site, is located near the zinc fingers adjacent to a basic domain, the B-domain, which is essential both for the function of Mig1-VP16 as an activator and for the function of Mig1 as a repressor.

    Studiens syfte var att se vilken bild som media ger av flickor med adhd. Studien genomfördes med kvalitativ textanalys, de tidningar/tidskrifter som ingick var Göteborgs-Posten, Dagens Nyheter, Lärarnas Tidning, Specialpedagogik samt Skolvärlden. I studien ingick 56 artiklar från åren 1999–2017. Analysen av det empiriska materialet innebar att artiklarna kodades i fyra olika kategorier.

    • Flickors beteende.
    • Problematik kring diagnoser.
    • Hälsa.
    • Brottslighet.

    I kategorin flickors beteende visade resultatet på två aspekter. För det första att flickor med adhd vänder sina problem mer inåt än vad pojkar med adhd gör och därför missas av vården och skolan. För det andra att flickor med adhd beter sig såsom pojkar med adhd gör och inte såsom flickor förväntas bete sig. När det gäller problematik kring diagnoser visade resultatet att flickor diagnostiseras senare och i mindre utsträckning än pojkar samt att det finns för lite kunskap kring flickor med adhd i skolan. Dessa aspekter innebär att flickor får mindre stöd vilket i sin tur får konsekvenser för dem. Kategorin hälsa handlade framförallt om depression, självskadebeteende m.m. Kategorin brottslighet skrevs det ytterst lite om vilket skiljer sig mot tidigare gjorda studier.

    Uppsatsens resultat visar att det skrivs mycket om flickors beteende och problematik kring diagnoser i media. Jämfört med tidigare studier är det ett mer socialt perspektiv som framträder på flickor med adhd. Tidigare studier har istället visat på ett mer biologiskt/medicinskt perspektiv. I studien framkommer även tydligt att flickor med adhd anses bryta mot den socialt och kulturellt formade könstillhörigheten.

    En väl utformad grafisk profil kan hjälpa ett företag att skapa medvetenhet och kundlojalitet. Den grafiska profilen består bland annat av logotyp, färger, typsnitt och profil- och korrespondensmaterial som allt måste vara enhetligt utformat och anpassat efter företagets kultur, målgrupp och vision. Projektet syftar till att undersöka och beskriva hur tatuerares grafiska profil bör vara utformad för att bäst fylla sitt syfte. En enkätundersökning gjordes med målet att skapa förståelse för tatueringskundernas syn på den grafiska profilen och kompletterades med en intervju med en förtroendeingivande tatuerare som i sina åsikter fick representera tatueringsbranschen. Litteratur i ämnet grafisk profilering och grafisk design kompletterade undersökningen ytterligare. Resultaten från enkätundersökningen stämde inte helt överens med litteraturen vilket gör det svårt att ge ett exakt svar på projektets frågeställningar

    ABSTRACT

    Background: Medication errors are a big problem in health care today. It can lead to suffering for patients and high economic costs. According to previous studies, one in every five medication doses has an error of some kind.

    Aim: The aim of this study was to look at the medication process from a nursing point of view.

    Method: An observational and medication chart study based on an American tool from the Collaborative Alliance for Nursing Outcomes, CALNOC. One hundred drug doses were observed all the way through preparation to administration. The registered indicators were medication errors and faults.

    Result: Medication errors which were related to dose, time, technique, availability, route and form happened in 33%. Identification of the patient did not occur in any of the observed doses.

    Conclusion: Errors and/or faults occurred in all the observed doses. Additional studies using the method to examine nurses handling of medications should be performed to identify flaws in the medication process.

    Ett företags organisationskultur består av ett gemensamt värdesystem som har en meningsskapande funktion för de anställda i företaget som identifierar sig med organisationen. I en företagsfusion, där två eller flera företag går samman, har det visat sig vara svårt att förena olika organisationskulturer på grund av motstånd från de anställda. Tidigare forskning kring detta har till stor del fokuserat på de anställdas agerande i en fusion. Syftet med denna studie var att undersöka hur anställdas meningsskapande i en fusion påverkades av deras identifikation med organisationen. Med en kvalitativ intervjustudie undersöktes hur anställda i fyra företag hade upplevt en fusion av företagen. Resultatet visade att även om förändringsprocessen hade upplevts negativt av samtliga deltagare varierade upplevelsen av det nya företaget och dess kultur utifrån deltagarnas tidigare bolagstillhörighet. Analysen visade att identifikationen med de tidigare organisationskulturerna påverkade de anställdas menings-skapande i situationen och därmed skapandet av en ny gemensam organisationskultur.

    Music is not mentioned to a large extent in the curriculum for Swedish preschools (National Agency, 2016). Preschool teachers don’t have any guidelines to relate to in their planning and implementation of music activities. This creates a complexity when working with music. Because of this further knowledge is needed in this area and that is why this study aims to illustrate didactic considerations in the planning and implementation of music activities in the preschool. This can further lead to inspire others to implement music in the preschool. The study looks closer at how music is valued and used as a didactic learning tool. This is done with the help of a questionnaire aimed at active preschool teachers (30 participants) and one interview. The study has a didactic perspective as a theoretical starting point and the results are analyzed and connected to the didactic triangle (Wahlström, 2015) and the didactic questions what, why and how (Ferm Thorgersen, 2012).

     

    The result determines that music is a legitimate tool for developing children’s knowledge in several areas for example language, mathematics, science and movement. The result illustrates didactic considerations, how music activities are formed and the priority when planning and implementing music activities. The study also illustrates different ways of working with music and the preschool teachers relation to music. By contributing with new knowledge the study can therefore make it easier for others to work with music together with children in the preschool. If there are clear goals for learning and the activity is characterized by children’s influence can this lead to rewarding and fun music activities in the preschool.

    Abstract [en]

    Classification of neurons has been a studied topic in neuroscience for several years and with the increase of data, new methods are encouraged to help with the classification. This study compares different machine learning algorithms to see which are better suited for classification of large data sets of morphological reconstructions in multidimensional feature space. Ten algorithms were compared on a data set of over 10 000 samples of mice neurons. Further, each classifiers ability to classify each available cell type were also investigated. The results show that Random Forest had the best overall mean accuracy followed by Multi-layer Perceptron with 83% and 78% respectively. However, observing the classification of individual cell types all the algorithms varied in accuracy and Random Forest was not considered the best. In conclusion, machine learning algorithms are a viable source when classifying neurons but more research needs to be performed to reach the higher accuracy results.

    Barn till frihetsberövade är en osynlig grupp i vårt samhälle. Separationen från den frihetsberövade föräldern påverkar barnet olika beroende på barnets ålder, straffets längd och tidigare separationer. Ingen forskning har tidigare genomförts på denna grupp i Sverige. Syftet med föreliggande studie var att söka förstå och beskriva de upplevelser som barn till frihetsberövade har. Sex intervjuer genomfördes med sex unga människor i åldrarna 13- 22 år som hade/hade haft en eller båda föräldrarna i fängelse. Intervjuerna spelades in, transkriberades och analyserades med induktiv tematisk analys. Resultatet visade att barn till frihetsberövade ofta lever under utsatta förhållanden. Erfarenheter av övergivanden, separationer och traumatiska händelser var vanligt. Undersökningen visade också på betydelsen av väsentlig information om förälderns frihetsberövande och av vänner. Stöd från samhället, genom bland annat bättre samverkan mellan myndigheter, efterfrågas.

    ”En effektiv skolutveckling med digitala verktyg förutsätter en ökad tillgång och användning av nätbaserade resurser för lärande.” Den snabba utveckling som just nu sker på skolområdet med ökad tillgång till datorer, surfplattor och trådlösa nät gör det möjligt att på allvar kunna använda digitala resurser i undervisningen. Det innebär ökade krav på digitala och nätbaserade resurser avsedda och användbara för skolan. I syfte att underlätta för leverantörer att erbjuda nätbaserade resurser och för beställare att efterfråga digitala resurser startade SIS TK 450 våren 2011 arbetet med denna vägledning. Utgångspunkten är följande fyra perspektiv:

    ● Att det ska bli enklare att hitta resurser och att de ska kunna presenteras för pedagoger och elever på ett funktionellt sätt

    ● Att det ska vara enkelt att länka in digitala resurser i de plattformar och planeringsverktyg som skolorna använder

    ● Att det ska var enkelt att komma åt resurserna på nätet med en nationell struktur för identifiering och inloggning

    ● Att resurser och plattformar ska vara tillgängliga för alla användare

    I Sverige betonas ofta behovet av kompetens bland pedagoger och skolledare, och initiativ som PIM har på många håll lyft kompetensnivån, men behovet av stöd för det dagliga IT-användandet kopplat till kursplaner och annan planering är fortfarande stort. Här har skolledare och arenor för erfarenhetsutbyte en viktig roll. Den tekniska utbyggnaden av trådlösa nät och en omfattande ökning av antalet personliga datorer ger en bra grund för en utveckling av skolan, men bristerna när det gäller tillgången till digitala resurser och digitalt innehåll hämmar arbetet. Trenderna i vår omvärld pekar tydligt ut just digitalt innehåll som centralt, antingen genom att som i Danmark ställa upp långtgående mål för att öka tillgång och användning, eller som andra länder betona arbetssätt och arbetsformer som förutsätter tillgång till ett rikt och varierat utbud av resurser. Individuell anpassning, flexibilitet och föräldrars delaktighet bygger på att det finns ett bra innehåll att arbeta med.

    The matched-guise test, which was originally developed by Lambert et al. (1960), has been useful in determining covert attitudes towards accents, dialects, or languages. In this paper, the author presents a fresh take on matched-guise tests in sociolinguistics utilizing modern technology to digitally manipulate a female voice into a male voice. This makes it possible to create recordings in which the tone, intonation, stress, and personality traits are the same, yet the apparent guise is different, thus allowing us to ascertain attitudes towards the sexes as well. Using this method on 169  respondents of mixed sex, the author has shown that there are statistical differences between how the male and female guises are interpreted. When all collaborative and competitive aspects are combined, the female guise is considered more collaborative, while the male is considered more competitive. Contradictory to old stereotypes it would also seem as though men are considered less knowledgeable than women. Less sexist people also rate the male and the female guise more unevenly than more sexist people do. A less sexist person favours the female guise on collaborative variables, while a more sexist person favours neither guise.

    Abstract [en]

    Silicon carbide (SiC) semiconductor devices for high power applications are now commercially available as discrete devices. Recently Schottky diodes are offered by both USA and Europe based companies. Active switching devices such as bipolar junction transistors (BJTs), field effect transistors (JFETs and MOSFETs) are now reaching the market. The interest is rapidly growing for these devices in high power and high temperature applications. The main advantages of wide bandgap semiconductors are their very high critical electric field capability. From a power device perspective the high critical field strength can be used to design switching devices with much lower losses than conventional silicon based devices both for on-state losses and reduced switching losses. This paper will review the current state of the art in active switching device performance for both SiC and GaN devices. SiC material quality and epitaxy processes have greatly improved and degradation free 100 mm wafers are readily available. This is encouraging since also bipolar devices now are attractive with good long term stability. SiC wafers still have a too high cost to be fully cost efficient. However, the SiC wafer roadmap looks very favorable as volume production takes off. For GaN materials the main application area is geared towards the lower power rating level up to 1 kV on mostly lateral FET designs. The cost advantage is interesting for GaN when grown on Si substrates to bring down costs.

    Abstract [en]

    This paper presents an overview of the technological challenges facing the future scaling of device dimensions needed to meet the performance scaling in accordance with Moore's law. A number of performance boosters have to be introduced in order to keep up with the expected performance gain in each new technology node. The introduction of strain engineering is an important feature as well as the implementation of high-k dielectrics. From the 32 nm node and forward there is an urgent search for a fundamental breakthrough to achieve low access resistance to the drain and source areas. This paper will focus to a large extent on this latter area and discuss metallic source/drain (MSD) contacts in nanoscaled MOSFET technology. MSD contacts offer extremely low S/D parasitic resistance, abruptly sharp junctions between S/D and channel and preferably low temperature processing. Recently great efforts have been achieved on Pt- and Ni-silicide implementation. A conclusion is that MSD MOSFETs are competitive candidates for future generations of CMOS technology.
