    Abstract [en]

    Medical professionals are increasingly assuming the role of maker and creator. At the same time, digital innovations, as part of evolving information infrastructures, are becoming increasingly prevalent in healthcare. In this paper, we adopt a Schönian approach to understand how a medical professional, who is not an IS designer by trade, engages in the design of digital practice - turning what may appear as a failed digital innovation effort into a successful design of digital practice. Our inquiry suggests three pragmatic principles that call for further investigation: (a) professionals can make a significant contribution to design work by inventing means for fact-based, reflective engagement with the situation; (b) the reorganization of work practice involves organizational design, information system design, and communication design; and (c) developing design as digital practice entails the development of fact-based design practice and must engage practical theories.

    Abstract [en]

    This special issue introduction explores the need to study information systems as symbolic action systems, defines broadly the research domain and related assumptions, notes the origins of this perspective, articulates its key lines of study, and discusses the state of the field in light of published research. The essay also positions the three papers of the special issue in the broader Information Systems (IS) discourse and notes their specific contribution in bridging so far unconnected streams of research and expanding research methods amenable to symbolic action research. This introductory essay furthermore observes some unique challenges in pulling together the special issue that invited the editors to combat against the tendency to approach communicative processes associated with information systems as primarily psychological processes. In closing we note several lines of inquiry that can strengthen future studies of symbolic action including better design theories, more flexible and open use of methods, and attentive use of rich traditions that inform symbolic action research in IS.

    Online Digital Media Practices on Twitter By Korean Pop Idol BTS and Fans:  A Case on BTS (방탄소년단) and their Fans2019Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (Two Years)), 20 poäng / 30 hpOppgave
    Abstract [en]

    The research conducted focused on the media practices by a South Korean band « BTS » and the named fandom « A.R.M.Y ». Through the use of Twitter, the research consisted in making use of BTS’s Twitter posts to study what they are doing on social media in order to engage fans, as well as the type of practices that are being executed. The second part of the study investigated the fandoms’ interaction, participation, and online engagement in regard to the media content tweeted by the south Korean band. Mix methods were used in order to answer the three research questions that were presented for this research. An analysis of media practices was conducted through a content analysis then followed by an online survey. The analysis highlighted that shared practices and regular media use were an important factor in the creation of a participatory culture. Culture was also shown to be an important component to the generation of fan engagement and artist interaction with their respective fandom. In addition, through fans high participation in online activities, the investigation was able to demonstrate that fans developed shared practices and shared identities, which were emerged from their activities. Furthermore, BTS members have shown that their cultural habits were important for engaging fans.

    Overall, the results of this study concluded that media practices are various and are executed in ways that allow the South Korean band to keep an online relationship with their fans through diverse media content that is published on their own personal managed Twitter account. In response to that, fans have shown a constant interactions and engagements by liking, retweeting, commenting to the bands’ tweets, along with other different activities that have been demonstrated in the analysis chapter.

    Abstract [en]

    This study examines how ASMRtists, people that create ASMR videos, attempt to create intimacy in their videos on YouTube. ASMR stands for Audio Sensory Meridian Response and is a tingling sensation within the body that can be triggered by various stimuli, such as visuals and sounds. This study processes girlfriend roleplay ASMR, which is when female ASMRtists roleplay being the viewer's girlfriend. ASMR and girlfriend roleplay ASMR are relatively new phenomena which have emerged through digitalization and its reconstruction of the concept of intimacy. It has yet to be scientifically researched and this study contributes to the research gap. Through conducting semiotic video analyzes, this study explores how the ASMRtists attempt to produce intimacy in their girlfriend roleplay ASMR videos. The result landed in that the ASMRtists attempt to produce intimacy in various creative ways that override the screen. It is likely that the ASMRtists attempt to generate both an emotional and physical connection to the viewer through combining elements from real-life relationships and different ASMR triggers. Through making use of theories of dramaturgy, the male gaze and gender displays, the study has analyzed the material and uncovered norms and structures in society that the ASMRtists arguably rely on. The number of people that consumes these videos shows that there is a demand for new ways of creating intimacy. The development of digitalization will most likely continue to open up new forms of digital intimacy which makes it an exciting topic to conduct further research on.

    Abstract [en]

    An estimated 450 million people globally do not have access to a fixed or mobile broadband signal. Recently satellite communication companies announced the concept of Megaconstellations which are large networks of inexpensive low Earth-orbiting satellites. These constellations aim to provide internet access across the planet. Many people believe these constellations will offer an opportunity to bridge the digital divide between developed and developing countries. However, according to the UN development agenda, it is crucial to harmonize three core elements: economic growth, social inclusion, and environmental protection, while achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Although many are enthusiastic about the possibility of closing the digital gap, some researchers have concerns about the environmental impacts of these mega-constellations. Some studies explored howsatellites’ mega-constellations would increase the collision rate among space objects. This by increased amount of space debris which would negatively impact the Low Earth Orbit and the planet and thereby would be inconsistent with environmental sustainability. This study aims to investigate this claim by examining the impacts of future capabilities of satellites on offering inclusive healthcare and education systems while investigating their environmental impacts.

    People these days are able to buy almost anything online. With a continuously increased E-commerce, small and medium sized companies (SMEs) feel obligated to enter the competitive E-commerce market. Moreover, for small companies with little or no experience in e-commerce it could become overwhelming to get a web-shop up and running. One important tasks in managing a web-shop is to register products into the system. This must be easy and efficient. The focus of this thesis is to answer the question "How can user-centered design principles improve productregistration, particularly in the SME context?". At the start of this study, surveys and interviews were conducted, which showed that product registration is very time consuming at the moment. User tests were conducted to measure the efficiency and the general usability of a system maintaining over 100 active web-shops. Based on the results of the first iteration of the user test conducted, design changes were proposed and implemented. A second iteration of the user test showed improved efficiency and substantially less errors. The most important new design elements were related to navigation, workflow and adjustment of input fields to the data sources. Thus it has been shown that the threshold for SME web-shops to go online can be lowered by a systematic application of user-centered design of the user interface.

    Abstract [en]

    The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence has led to the emergence of deepfake, digital media that has been manipulated to replace a person's likeness with another. This technology has seen significant improvements, becoming easier to use and producing results increasingly difficult to distinguish from reality. This development has raised ethical discussions surrounding its deceiving nature. Furthermore, deepfakes have had a considerable impact and application on social media, enabling their spread. Despite this, the public discourse on social media, along with its societal and personal values associated with deepfakes, remains underexplored. This study addresses this gap by examining social media discourse and perception surrounding the prominent ethical concerns of deepfakes, and situating these concerns within the broader landscape of AI ethics. Through a qualitative method resembling netnography, 320 posts from Reddit and Youtube were thematically analyzed through a passive observation, along with their respective comment section. The findings reveal various concerns, surrounding misinformation and consent to deeper fears about deepfakes' role in fostering distrust, as well as more abstract apprehensions regarding the technology's abuse and harmful applications. These concerns further revealed how generalized established AI ethical principles might be interpreted in the deepfake context, also showing how and why these principles might be violated by this technology. Particularly it revealed terms how principles such as dignity, transparency, privacy and non-maleficence might be diverged in deepfake applications.

    Abstract [en]

    There is a huge need for information when you arrive as an immigrant in a new country. The purpose of the study is to find out recommendations for an information portal for newly arrived immigrants in Sweden.

    First, a survey was conducted to the webmasters of relevant authorities online resources regarding their ways of considering the needs of immigrant users. The answers showed that the webmasters of the official websites showed interest in considering the needs of immigrants in their websites by including pages in different languages, but most of them considered this to be difficult, expensive and problematic.

    To know more about a particular user group, a survey, interviews and observations have been done.

    A survey to newly arrived immigrants showed that their ICT skills are comparable to the average of Swedish citizens. In spite of differences within the immigrant group, like age, gender and cultural factors, they also shared common characteristics. Most of the immigrants trusted Swedish websites and Swedish authorities websites as reliable information resources more than websites in their mother-tongue.

    Test-persons were faced with the task of finding information about the possibility to borrow money for furniture for the first home in Sweden, our observations showed that very few of the test-persons managed to find their way to the correct authority webpage (Studiemedels-nämnden). Most test-persons tried by using many ways to search for the information, but all except two gave up. None of the test-persons managed to find the pages that were translated to their mother-tongue.

    The study points out the need for a systematical approach to web information for newly arrived immigrants to help them with their integration process and benefit from Swedish e-government services. A central multilingual portal website should be the heart of this program.

    This approach can be introduced in SFI schools given that all SFI schools are supplied with computers.

    Transcending Memories Beyond Borders: Carrying Memorabilia from Home to Abroad.: Transferring Personal Memorabilia for a Meaningful Cross-Country Experience.2023Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (Two Years)), 20 poäng / 30 hpOppgave
    Abstract [en]

    Collecting memorabilia has been a longstanding practice as it evolved around cultures and societies. Despite existing research about preserving memorabilia, meaningful preservation methods remain unclear due to the individual and idiosyncratic nature of practices [18,22,40,43,47,59]. Migrants who collect memorabilia face challenges in preserving them due to unavoidable circumstances such as lack of transportation, physical measurements and weight of memorabilia. In 2020, 281 million people migrated globally, accounting for 3.6% of the world's population, and as this issue continues to grow, finding practical solu tions is crucial [36,38]. The aim of this study is to explore ways to digitally preserve memorabilia to maintain their material qualities and meaning across diverse geographical contexts (RQ1). The study also focused on understanding what objects migrants regard as worth preserving (RQ2) and how digital memorabilia can be designed to serve as memory tokens (RQ3). The research employed an exploratory case study approach, focusing on first-generation Sri Lankan migrants [11,30]. Qualitative data was collected through interviews and the use of 3D printing and augmented reality was evaluated through prototype testing using a research-through-design approach [29,58]. Results revealed that souvenirs encapsulates sentimental, economic and aesthetic values that provides a symbolic meaning to its’ owner and contributes to constructing their identity. Migrants were willing to try new technologies and augmented reality was recognised as a satisfying experience. To transfer memorabilia meaningfully among different geographical context, a holistic solution for memorabilia preservation was expected by migrants where physical protection of memorabilia is emphasized. Further research in this study involves utilizing photogrammetry scanning and 3D modeling to closely replicate real-life memorabilia and further evaluating mixed-reality user interactions such as augmented reality.

    Recognising people’s emotions is a promising research area in human-computer interaction as emotional communication plays a crucial role in humans’ lives. One of the main reasons for ineffective emotional communication is a deficit in understanding emotional signals such as facial expressions and body posture. There is a bidirectional challenge between autistic and non-autistic individuals since they display their emotional signals differently. This thesis discovers differences in emotional signals, in particular facial expressions, body posture, and physiological signals. Based on the interviews and questionnaires conducted in this thesis, the need to design an aid tool to assist autistic and non-autistic participants during their emotional communication is identified. Therefore, Emognition, a smartwatch, and its mobile application is designed to blur these differences and enhance the emotional communication between them. Furthermore, Emognition’s user evaluation indicates that the smartwatch could successfully detect nonautistic participants’ sadness and happiness. Also, they found the mobile application useful and aesthetically motivating to interact with. Even though we could not evaluate how well the Emognition recognises autistic participants’ sadness and happiness, it is promising to measure their emotions successfully by accurate sensors and, more importantly, by finding their autonomic response patterns to different emotions and enhance emotional communication between autistic and nonautistic people by Emognition.

    Abstract [en]

    This study investigates the Usability of the podcast service User Interface (UI) of the iOS app Aftonbladet. The method used originates from a heuristic evaluation technique where semi- structured interviews were conducted with users of the podcast service to explore the usability and to find usability problems. The conducted interviews determined that there existed usability problems with the UI and thus, usability heuristics have been violated in the UI.

     

    Nielsen’s Ten Usability Heuristics for User Interface Design and Nielsen’s Severity Ratings for Usability Problems are applied to the interview answers for evaluating the usability of the podcast service UI.

     

    The heuristics that are interpreted as being of critical importance are:

    • Heuristic 4. Consistency and Standards 
    • Heuristic 5. Error Prevention 
    • Heuristic 6. Recognition rather than Recall

    Three out of the ten heuristics were not of critical importance:

    Denna studie argumenterar för att dagens mediesamhälle fungerar som en hybrid, där sociala medier och traditionella medier lever och verkar i symbios. Det som får tillräckligt stor spridning på sociala medier kan påverka nyhetsdagordningen och därmed vad allmänheten anser vara viktigt för tillfället. Detta är betydelsefullt för biståndsorganisationer som, för att kunna nå ut till många och öka chanserna till att samla in pengar, är i behov av att deras sak får plats på dagordningen. Studien baseras på en kvantitativ innehållsanalys av samtliga publicerade videoklipp av Sverige för UNHCR på Facebook under 2015. Variablerna baserades på teorier om viralitet, som ursprungligen har utvecklats inom marknadsföring. Där ingick teori om social delning av känslor, social nätverksteori, self-determination theory samt marknadsföringsmodellen ”the Dragonfly effect”. Studien visade hur teorierna kunde utnyttjas även i detta sammanhang, om de anpassades utifrån kontexten. Resultatet visade att the Dragonfly effect tycks vara en lämplig modell i denna kontext. Videon ”Search for Syria” utmärkte sig i detta urval, genom att ha högst antal visningar kombinerat med en förhållandevis hög andel användarresponser, som bidrar till spridningen. Alla fyra steg inom Dragonfly-modellen kunde identifieras i denna video, vilket indikerar att detta är en lämplig modell för att öka chansen till spridning i denna kontext. Studien fann också att urvalet av videoklipp generellt inte var konstruerade på ett sätt som uppmuntrar till spridning. Vidare noterades att starka känslomässiga inslag, så som provokativa och obehagliga scener, förekommer mer i videor som fått flest visningar. Samtidigt tycks videoklipp med en större andel positiva och hoppfulla inslag få större användarrespons i form av ”gillningar”, kommentarer och delningar.

    Det rådande EU-direktivet som behandlar dataskydd från år 1995 är idag inte lika aktuellt som när det infördes. Det är därför i hög tid att en uppdatering kommer. I maj 2018 införs den nya dataskyddsförordningen, GDPR, som är EU:s senaste förordning. Den kommer ersätta Sveriges personuppgiftslag, PuL, som idag styr över hur personuppgifter behandlas. GDPR kommer innebära strängare lagar kring informationshantering och fler rättigheter till privatpersoner. Ett exempel är att privatpersoner kommer kunna be om att få alla data kopplad till personen raderade. Många företag erbjuder medlemskap till privatpersoner och lagrar därför kunduppgifter digitalt, vilket betyder att de påverkas av GDPR i stor grad då de måste omforma sina IT-system för att leva upp till de nya kraven.

    Denna studie handlar om fyra företag och förändringarna de står inför samt hur de arbetar med de nya kraven som GDPR innebär för dem. En kravmodell skapas med en sammanställning av de nya kraven och resultatet visar sedan vilka företag som börjat arbeta med de kraven. Resultatet visar även hur långt de kommit i sitt arbete med dataskyddsförordningen och kan förhoppningsvis vägleda andra företag i hur de bör arbeta med dataskyddsförordningen samt vilka förändringar de bör genomföra för att leva upp till de nya kraven.

    Big data analysis and inbound marketing are interlinked and can play a significant role in the identification of target audience and in the production of communication content as per the needs of target audience for strategic communication campaigns. By introducing and bringing the marketing concepts of big data analysis and inbound marketing into the field of strategic communication this quantitative study attempts to fill the gap in the limited body of knowledge of strategic communication research and practice. This study has used marketing campaigns as case studies to introduce a new strategic communication model by introducing the big data analysis and inbound marketing strategy into the three staged model of strategic communication presented by Gulbrandsen, I. T., & Just, S. N. in 2016. Big data driven campaigns are used to explain the procedure of target audience selection, key concepts of big data analysis, future opportunities, practical applications of big data for strategic communication practitioners and researchers by identifying the need for more academic research and practical use of big data analysis and inbound marketing in the strategic communication area. The study shows that big data analysis has potential to contribute in the field of strategic and target oriented communication. Inbound marketing and big data analysis has been used and considered as marketing strategy but this study is an attempt to shift the attention towards its role in strategic communication so there is a need to study big data analysis and inbound marketing with an open mind without confining it with some particular fields.

    The aim of this thesis is to suggest design solution for social media that may counter the effect of “Echo chamber” and “Filter Bubble”. The precise method used on this thesis is play centric design method and both intermediate and final evaluations were done through qualitative evaluation.

    At the end a design solution of Viewlette game were presented. It can be concluded that the suggested design solution may have the tendency to counter the effect of Filter bubble and Echo chamber on social networking site by enabling people that has conflicting points of view to still listen to each other and understand an argument from different perspective.

    Purpose/Aim: The aim of this paper is to, through scenario planning methodology, present recommendations in order for record companies to be competitive in the near future. In order to achieve this goal three question where asked. (1) What are the most central problems of the record industry? (2) How can these problems affect the future in the industry? (3) In what way can record companies’ work to avoid these problems? The paper focuses on the Swedish market partly because of the given timeframe but also because of Sweden’s position in that of file sharing as well as technological advances. It is also assumed in this paper that the future of music sales will be concentrated to the Internet. Material/Method: The chosen method for this paper was scenario planning. An extensive literature study was complemented with interviews of key players involved in content consumption over the Internet. Main results: A fundamental issue for the future of the music industry is that of legislation. The outcome of the record industry’s future is almost exclusively dependent on the way, which the legislation takes. A stricter legislation, which includes violations of citizens’ personal integrity, may backfire and result in political pirate parties’ becoming members of parliaments. This may in turn result in that the intellectual property laws of the nineteenth century are removed. Suing private persons and trackers can result in record companies alienating an entire generation of music consumers. Record companies attempts to retain music as a product may prove to be futile within time, but they can absolutely prolong the period in which it is a product. It is nevertheless, not entirely negative for music to become a service. By being a service music can more easily be attached to another service, like an Internet subscription, or an experience.

    Teknologiers transformativa förmågor har stor potential att bidra till förändring som gynnar samhällen, miljön och mänskligt välbefinnande. Världen står idag inför många stora utmaningar som klimatförändringar och omfattande digitala förändringar. Investerare påverkar vilka teknologier som formar våra samhällen, och uppdragsdrivna aktörer, snarare än endast vinstdrivna, kan påverka framtida paradigmskiften. Trots ett ökat intresse för området ”transformativa teknologier” saknas konsensus kring grundläggande egenskaper och vad begreppet inbegriper. Avsaknaden av definierande egenskaper resulterar i att begreppet löper risk att urvattnas, vilket vidare medför negativa effekter kopplade till beslutsfattares avsaknad av praxis för att utvärdera transformativa förmågor hos teknologier. Beslutsfattare kan hjälpas av ett tydligare definierat begrepp och genom applicerbara metoder kan beslutsfattare hjälpas nå sina mål. Befintliga metoder för utvärdering av ansvarsfulla investeringar som ESG och Impact investing är inte fokuserade på teknologier och därtill finns begränsningar som gör de mindre tillämpbara i fall där transformativa teknologier är relevant. Studien bidrar till en ökad förståelse för begreppet och tillhandahåller metoder för utvärdering genom att analysera transformativa egenskaper i Industrifondens portföljbolag inom området transformativ teknologi. Det empiriska underlaget utgörs av 12 portföljbolag. Studien visar på tre dimensioner av transformativa egenskaper, value changes, mimicry och diffusion, samt bidrar med förståelse kring dess innebörd. Vidare visar studien på återkommande mönster i termer av transformativa egenskaper. Utöver bidraget kopplat till en ökad förståelse inom området ger studien förslag på hur dessa teknologier kan utvärderas samt hur utvärderingsmetoder kan tillämpas vid investeringsstrategier.

    Traditional education system on campus has been using as a legacy over decades to support educational learning. The major change over time has been made by the use of technology supporting students in the academic community. As the majority of students in higher education today belong to the digital-age-student generation, they frequently use online technology to interact with instructors, other learners, and to access online materials. In this study, the result is primarily presented from campus students’ perceptions, to gain a deeper understanding of how social media is being used to support educational and collaborative/cooperative learning. Although, almost all the respondents are frequent social media users, only a quarter of them use such media regularly for academic purposes. Through use of social media in academia, students have encountered with benefits─ as convenience, possibility of interaction anywhere/anytime, time-saving, low price and many others─ in addition to facing to limitations─ such as less effective or spontaneous contact, connection problems, lack of platform compatibility, less creative and innovative thinking, and other issues─ which have been discussed in this study.

    This thesis adopted a qualitative research and the characterization of knowledge that is used is exploratory research method with the use of interview as a tool for empirical data collection. Twenty interviews have been conducted with Uppsala University higher education students within random subject disciplines. Among many different social media, the most frequent ones used by majority of students are e-mail, a common asynchronous media to interact with instructors and other learners; and Instant Messaging (IM), a synchronous communication way to interact with co-workers, classmates, or group-mates. Furthermore, learners use social media to coordinate their collaborative/cooperative work, share documents and ask questions. Facebook, Wikipedia, YouTube and other popular social media are also sometimes used for educational purposes.

    The findings indicate that social media seems particularly beneficial for supporting educational learning; though there are some negative aspect and limitations. Learners look at using the technology and social media as a complement to support their studies and collaboration/cooperation. However, not many of them consider using such media as a substitute for face-to-face interactions and the traditional campus education. By drawing on this thesis and the previous studies, proposition on how use of social media supports educational learning in the future has been emerged.

    Abstract [en]

    As a result of a successful human development around the world an extensive urbanization of societies are taking place that are networked in various ways. In these networks, increased travel and digitization are central where individuals and organizations converge in a constant and immediate wireless and mobile technology flow. An example of this is Stockholm and its public transportation company Storstockholms Lokaltrafik (SL). Although most participate in most of the network society, SL is struggling with an audience that seldom travel with them: families with children. We intended to find out how the communication of SL´s digital platforms could get families to travel more with public transportation. The method for this was a survey via e-mail in which families were asked how they experience SL on website, mobile phone and social media. The survey was highlighted with theories and concepts of network society, e-government, convergence and interaction. Results show that families are satisfied with the main content, especially real-time and mobile functions on SL´s digital platforms, but there is a lack of interaction on social media. But whether how SL´s communication on digital platforms can get families to travel more with public transportation, the answer is that it is difficult. The conclusion is that SL must continue improve existing and develop new popular features, and visualize themselves and "make more of and effort" on the website and mobile platform on social media, to hold on to current families travel with public transportation and win the trust of new ones in the long run.

    Digitala utbildningar finns för att hjälpa verksamheter med att utbilda sina anställda för att förbättra deras prestationer, samt skydda verksamheterna från att bli utnyttjade. Gamification eller spelifiering är tillämpningen av spelmekanismer i ett icke-spelsammanhang och används inom företag då dess upplevda potential gör att lärande blir mer engagerande och roligt. Det finns inte mycket forskning som bevisar om gamification kan hjälpa företag i utbildningssyfte eller inte. Denna studie undersökte om gamification gör digitala internutbildningar roligare eller inte, genom att jämföra två företag där ena använde sig av gamification och det andra inte gjorde det. Den insamlade data kom från frågeformulär som gav både kvalitativ och kvantitativ data. Data har analyserats med T-test och tematiskt analys för att ge ett empiriskt bidrag till forskningen angående gamification. Resultaten visade att gamification har en betydande inverkan på att göra digitala internutbildningar roligare från både T-testet och den tematiska analysen.

    Psykisk ohälsa har blivit alltmer vanligt förekommande och identifieras idag som ett globalt problem. Siffror för unga svenskar i åldersspannet 16-29 år som lider av psykiska problem visar oroväckande ökningar under de senaste 15 åren. Samtidigt som det sker en ökning av psykiska problem genomförs studier som belyser vikten av AI inom hälsosektorn. Dessa studier omfattar både fördelar och begränsningar, där ett återkommande tema är bristande acceptans från användarens sida. Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka acceptansen hos unga vuxna män och kvinnor i Sverige, i åldersspannet 16-29 år. Acceptansen undersöks genom en kvantitativ enkätundersökning baserad på TAM (technology acceptance model). Enkätundersökningen inkluderade totalt 73 respondenter. Vi vill dock påpeka att detta antal kan begränsa validiteten och möjligheten till generalisering. 

    För respektive chatbotar och avatarer har fem hypoteser definierats, varav samtliga gällande chatbotar accepteras medan fyra av fem gällande avatarer. Resultaten från studiens hypoteser visar tydliga relationer, med positiva korrelationer och signifikanta värden på en-procentsnivå (p < 0,01). Det framkommer klara samband mellan uppfattad användarvänlighet och uppfattad användbarhet, uppfattad användbarhet och attityd till användning, samt mellan attityd till användning och förmodad användning. Dessa resultat, baserade på insamlad data från studiens enkätundersökning, avslöjar en övergripande låg acceptans bland unga svenskar när det gäller AI-integrerad hälsorådgivning, och att det finns en viss oro och tveksamhet när det gället användningen av AI inom psykvården.

    Som följd av pandemin covid-19 och rekommendationer från Folkhälsomyndigheten tvingadesgymnasieskolor i Sverige att anpassa sin undervisning till distansundervisning. Digitalaverktyg blev därför en viktig del för gymnasielärare för att kunna fortsätta undervisningen.Tidigare forskning visar varierande resultat på distansarbetets effekter och utgår främst frånfrivilliga verktyg som möjliggör distansarbete. Utifrån faktorer kopplade tillanvändaracceptans är studiens syfte att undersöka gymnasielärares upplevelser avdistansundervisning och hur den har påverkat deras arbete. För att besvara studiensfrågeställning genomfördes semistrukturerade intervjuer med gymnasielärare från Uppsala.Resultatet visar att distansundervisning även under obligatoriska förhållanden till stor delupplevs negativt, baserat på de tre teman som producerats utifrån gymnasielärares intryck ocherfarenheter av distansundervisning. De tre centrala teman som undersökts är: kommunikationmellan lärare och elever, arbetsbörda samt digitala verktyg.

    Den svenska välfärden står inför utmaningar att vidareutveckla verksamhetsprocesser och tjänster för att kunna möta samhällets krav på tillgänglighet och effektivitet. Som en följd av detta genomgår svenska kommuner en digital transformationsresa som förändrar både interna arbetssätt men även tjänsteleveransen mot kommuninvånarna. Tidigare undersökningar visar att digitaliseringsprojekt är komplexa att genomföra och förankra inom organisationen. Studien utgår från ett teoretiskt ramverk med fokus på förändringsledarens förmåga att möjliggöra för meningsskapande. Det teoretiska ramverket används för att undersöka och analysera förändringsledarens roll och vilka framgångsfaktorer som råder i svenska kommuners digitala transformationsprojekt. Studien har en kvalitativ forskningsstrategi och den empiriska datan har samlats in genom åtta semistrukturerade intervjuer med medarbetare från tre svenska kommuner. Studiens resultat visar att både interna och externa faktorer står som grund för kommunernas transformationsresa. Resultaten visar även att både ledare och medarbetare berörs och behöver vara medvetna kring den digitala transformationen där en viktig framgångsfaktor är att skapa en gemensam grund och samverkan mellan verksamheter och förvaltningar, övriga medarbetare och ledare. Förändringsledarens roll är dock inte hugget i sten, utan den förändras och delas mellan de medarbetare som är involverade i förändringsarbetet. Studien resulterar i en vidareutvecklad konceptuell modell vilket kan användas som ett analysverktyg för att hjälpa svenska kommuner att förstå, identifiera och prioritera förändringsarbetet i relation till den digitala transformationen.

    Abstract [en]

    The availability of Large Language Models (LLM), such as the widely accessible ChatGPT, has raised concerns regarding the reliability of assessment formats in university education. This presentation sheds light on the potential impact of ChatGPT on existing remote examination formats and offers recommendations to overcome associated challenges. Through interviews with three computer science educators and an analysis of insights from blog posts, social media platforms, and academic forums, we gathered diverse opinions and experiences related to ChatGPT's impact on university assessment formats. Our findings reveal challenges, particularly in cheating prevention, prompting the need for educators to adapt their teaching methods to this evolving landscape. While GPT performs well in answering open-ended questions, it struggles with calculations and problem-solving, with multiple-choice questions posing additional challenges. Incorporating interactive activities and oral examinations should be prioritized in this context. As ChatGPT gains traction, institutions must address concerns to maintain academic integrity.

    Abstract [en]

    Background: Informal caregivers of patients with head and neck cancer (HNC), such as the patient’s spouse, other close relatives, or friends, can play an important role in home-based treatment and health care. Research shows that informal caregivers are usually unprepared for this responsibility and need support with taking care of patients and other daily life activities. These circumstances place them in a vulnerable position, and their well-being may be compromised. This study is part of our ongoing project Carer eSupport, which aims to develop a web-based intervention to facilitate informal caregivers in the home environment.

    Objective: This study aimed to explore the situation and context of informal caregivers of patients with HNC and their needs for designing and developing a web-based intervention (Carer eSupport). In addition, we proposed a novel framework for the development of a web-based intervention aimed at promoting the well-being of informal caregivers. Methods: Focus groups were conducted with 15 informal caregivers and 13 healthcare professionals. Both informal caregivers and healthcare professionals were recruited from 3 university hospitals in Sweden. We adopted a thematic data analysis process to analyze the data.

    Results: We investigated informal caregivers’ needs, critical factors for adoption, and desired functionalities of Carer eSupport.A total of 4 major themes, including information, web-based forum, virtual meeting place, and chatbot, emerged and were discussed by informal caregivers and health care professionals for Carer eSupport. However, most study participants did not like the idea of a chatbot for asking questions and retrieving information and expressed their concerns such as a lack of trust in robotic technologies and missing human contact while communicating with chatbots. The results from the focus groups were discussed through the lens of positive design research approaches.

    Conclusions: This study provided an in-depth understanding of informal caregivers’ contexts and their preferred functions for a web-based intervention (Carer eSupport). Using the theoretical foundation of designing for well-being and positive design in the informal caregiving context, we proposed a positive design framework to support informal caregivers’ well-being. Our proposed framework might be helpful for human-computer interaction and user experience researchers to design meaningful health interventions with a clear focus on users’ well-being and positive emotions, especially for informal caregivers of patients with HNC.

    SammanfattningI  denna  studie  utforskas  kapaciteterna  och  begränsningarna  hos  avancerade  stora språkmodeller (SSM), med särskilt fokus på ChatGPT-4 och Google Bard. Studien inleds med att ge en historisk bakgrund till artificiell intelligens och hur denna utveckling har lett fram till skapandet av dessa modeller. Därefter genomförs en kritisk analys av deras prestanda i språkbehandling och problemlösning. Genom att evaluera deras effektivitet i hanteringen av nyhetsinnehåll och sociala medier, samt i utförandet av kreativa uppgifter som pussel, belyses deras förmåga inom språklig bearbetning samt de utmaningar de möter i att förstå nyanser och utöva kreativt tänkande.I denna studie framkom det att SSM har en avancerad förmåga att förstå och reagera på komplexa språkstrukturer. Denna förmåga är dock inte utan begränsningar, speciellt när det kommer till uppgifter som kräver en noggrann bedömning för att skilja mellan sanning och osanning. Denna observation lyfter fram en kritisk aspekt av SSM:ernas nuvarande kapacitet, de är effektiva inom många områden, men möter fortfarande utmaningar i att hantera de finare nyanserna i mänskligt språk och tänkande. Studiens resultat betonar även vikten av mänsklig tillsyn vid användning av artificiell intelligens (AI), vilket pekar på behovet av att ha realistiska förväntningar på AI:s kapacitet och betonar vidare betydelsen av en ansvarsfull utveckling  av  AI,  där  en  noggrann  uppmärksamhet  kring etiska  aspekter  är  central.  En kombination av mänsklig intelligens och AI föreslås som en lösning för att hantera komplexa utmaningar, vilket bidrar till en fördjupad förståelse av avancerade språkmodellers dynamik och deras roll inom AI:s bredare utveckling och tillämpning.

    This thesis studies the usability issues of the mobile phone in informal Swedish language learning. The concept of usability is defined by expanding the technical usability attributes of Jakob Nielsen with other recent attributes derived from considering the technical aspects of mobile learning (m-learning). Thus, the ultimate structure of the usability factors that are discussed in this study consists of: accessibility, easy-to-learn, technical design, efficiency and satisfaction. With the support of the relevant previous literature and interview, we research this topic by considering the mobile-assisted language learning (MALL), informal language-learning and usability elements, in order to explore and identify the usability of mobile phone. The goal of this study is to contribute to detailed understanding of mobile phone usage, further identify the usability issues of mobile phones by obtaining both critical and commendatory feedbacks and reflections from the users. For final results, through qualitative research approach, we offered several findings regarding the mobile phone usability with specified reasons.

    Abstract [en]

    This thesis revolves around the subject of fake news, a phenomenon that has been highly discussed with the advent of the internet-based media. It aims to shed light on the problem of fake news and its implications in the Turkish mainstream media by mainly departing from the discourse theory, as well as by using additional theoretical approaches over fake news and media in polarized settings. In that sense, five research questions were developed to understand how fake news items disseminate in the Turkish media ecosystem, and what this could mean for the Turkish mainstream media specifically from the contexts of political partisanship and polarization. In order to answer the research questions, a total number of 687 fake news items have been analyzed in three different data sets. After providing an overall picture of the problem of fake news in the Turkish media ecosystem, the thesis specifically focuses on fake news items that circulate within the Turkish mainstream media. Overall, 77 fake news items are further subjected to an analysis of discourse activity schema in order to find out the narratives that the fake news items are connected to the Turkish political and social context. The research shows that the use of fake news items in the Turkish mainstream media indicates divergent and conflicting epistemologies over certain social and political themes, which are government- opposition divide, secular religious divide, economy, and education. Moreover, the research also indicates that certain social and political themes are under the discursive hegemony of certain groups within the Turkish mainstream media organizations. These themes are found to be anti-immigration, anti-US, anti-Israel, and FETO. Eventually, two main points are discussed in relation to the given theoretical background. First, the problem of fake news in the Turkish mainstream media indicates a damaged understanding of journalism in the country, which requires a reorientation and reexamination. Second, media in polarized settings may increase partisan alignments and divergent epistemologies, which can lead to the use of fake news items in order to empower certain agendas.

    Abstract [en]

    Given the subjective nature of trust as a phenomenon and its unified multifaceted contributions for every individual context,the development of a computational model of trust proves to be a difficult endeavour. In this study, we investigate mutual gaze as a behavioural measure of social trust and liking in child-robot interaction. Developing on a prior user study involving 52 children interacting with a robot with variable human-likeness and lexical alignment in two interaction contexts (task-based and dialogue-based), we investigate the effects of human-likeness and lexical alignment on mutual gaze, associations and correlations between metrics assessing social trust and liking, and the development of mutual gaze as an objective measure of social trust and liking. We achieve this through several statistical analyses between the percent of mutual gaze in each interaction, human-likeness, lexical alignment, scores from social trust and liking metrics, self-disclosure content, age, and time. The main findings of our study support the use of mutual gaze as an objective measure for liking, but there is still not sufficient evidence to supportthe use of mutual gaze as an objective measure to identify and capture social trust as a whole. Furthermore, we found that human-likeness and lexical alignment do not significantly affect mutual gaze in an interaction, but the interaction context does. Moreover, it seems that age plays a role in the amount of mutual gaze in an interaction, where older participants engage in less mutual gaze compared to the younger participants. Alongside this, the amount of mutual gaze the participant engages in is stable across periods when they are not interacting with the robot, changing more towards the first half of the first interaction and the second half of the second interaction. Based on the study, our findings suggest using different objective behavioural measures for social trust compared to its related concepts such as liking. Also, our results have found that there may be other constructs intertwined with liking, such as attention and interest, which may need to be addressed with separate metrics.

    Personas are useful design tools that are used for improving the quality of the design and they can be created with the help of various user research methods. However, it is hard for designers to reach out the relevant group of users. Also, it is time and effort consuming to set the interviews & observations with the users and pull the precise information from the gathered data.

    Moreover, users can recall a limited amount of their memories when they are asked unless they are keeping a diary. This study aims to suggest an alternative user research method by figuring out if the online discussions are capable of supplying the necessary information which will be the basis for the Persona. As a result, a set of procedural steps are designed for analyzing the online discussion content and it is implemented to a case where the community is trying to develop the Bitcoin technology and its usage.

    It appeared that discussion logs are such a rich source of information which covers the necessary input for Personas. Finally, Bitcoin users are segmented and five vivid Personas are created.

    The aim of this thesis was to enhance the learning and teaching in educational organizations by using knowledge-based systems. In the last few decades, considerable interest has been exhibited in applying information and communication technologies in educational settings in an attempt to enhance the process of learning and teaching. Surprisingly, however, a modest amount of attention has been directed towards supporting active learning and to accommodating different learning styles.

    Different knowledge and reasoning strategies have been studied to determine, whether, and how they could satisfy users’ learning styles. Moreover, on the basis of the pedagogical aspects identified, a knowledge-based system was designed to help students to learn about the subject actively and in the way they prefer. Through this system, students are able to choose different representation forms of the domain knowledge and can evaluate their understanding through the differentiated feedback given by the system.

    In conjunction with the development of new information and communication technologies, the demands on teachers’ didactical skills are also increasing. Adopting a student-centered approach can require teachers to reevaluate their teaching strategies and their leadership style because teacher takes on a different role to that of traditional teaching. Two knowledge-based systems have been designed to provide teachers with differentiated feedback enabling them to reflect on their current teaching strategies and leadership style in an active and individualized way.

    The result of the research is the design of knowledge-based systems to bridge the gap between learning and teaching using knowledge-based systems.  A conceptual map united all the important pedagogical aspects related to student-centered learning in making it possible to visualize these aspects and the relation between them. This conceptual map makes a meaningful contribution to designer’s understanding of the way the systems support students’ learning and, therefore, can be used as a guide when designing knowledge-based systems for learning. Students and teachers can also benefit from it by obtaining a common understanding of learning and some of its underlying concepts. This kind of awareness can bridge the gap between teaching and learning, and also advance educational organizations in the move towards the adoption of student-centered learning environments.

    Agile methodologies are one of the most common approaches for companies to develop new software products. Within these methodologies, a significant focus is placed on rapid deliveryand minimal documentation. However, this focus can lead to documentation, especially that concerning quality requirements (QR), being overlooked in favor of speed. This can result in a decrease in the overall quality of the final software product. To address these issues, the suitability of Generative AI (GenAI) is examined to analyze its potential in solving these problems. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether GenAI is suitable foraddressing issues related to QR documentation within agile methodologies. The study conducted a case study on a company currently using GenAI. The data collection method used for this investigation was semi-structured interviews. The Task-Technology Fit (TTF) model was used to evaluate the suitability of GenAI for QR documentation. The results show that "Ease of Use" and "Production timeliness" are GenAI"s greatest strengths. However,other aspects such as "Quality" and "System reliability" showed weaker results. Future research should focus on exploring the broader use of GenAI within agile methodologies and developing comprehensive training programs for the effective use of GenAI.

    Abstract [en]

    The field of artificial intelligence has gained much knowledge through the implementation of decision-making systems in video games. One of these systems was the Goal Oriented Action Planning system (GOAP) which directs the behavior of an AI-agent through multiple digital artifacts categorized as goals, actions, and plans. The aim of the thesis is to aid in the understanding and creation of GOAP driven AI-agents in a video game setting to promote research on this topic. The research question of this thesis was about finding out how the GOAP architecture compares to other video game decision-making systems. The theoretical framework introduces the concept of the illusion of intelligence in video games and presents a discussion focused on the different components which make up a GOAP system and other components that support it. Additionally, the theoretical framework explains the need for a comparison between different decision-making systems and explains the social impact of game AI research. The methods section introduces the criteria for the comparison between GOAP and other decision-making systems and presents a comparison process that was driven by a literature review. A GOAP system was designed for this thesis using the unified modeling language and concept maps. It was then implemented using C# code in a free-of-charge game engine called Unity. We present the pseudocode for the implementation of the GOAP system and show that this framework is a modular, customizable, and reusable system that enables AI-agents to create plans from a varied set of actions. Finally, the paper suggests further research within game decision-making AI and emphasizes the importance of game AI research for communities of game developers, hobbyists, and others who could benefit from game AI in their projects.

    Abstract [en]

    Historically, the journalism industry has not had a standardized way into it, but rather flaunted the alternative methods of entering the industry. By interviewing ten employers at Swedish news organizations, this thesis aimed to investigate the importance of journalism training. This, in relation to the professionalization of the industry and how employers create boundaries between journalists and others, which was analyzed using the theory of professionalization and boundary work. The development of the industry is mainly explained by the evolution of the internet and changed media landscape.

    The results showed that, whereas employers value alternative ways into the industry, journalistic education is becoming increasingly more important. Employers unanimously value journalistic education for equipping aspiring journalists with essential knowledge about ethics, fostering professional unity and legitimacy. Highlighting the significance of maintaining the journalistic mission, it was noted that journalistic education could serve as a boundary between “real” journalists and “others”, based on their attitude towards responsibilities and characteristics. Hence the importance of including the requirement “education or equivalent” in job listings, to ensure that the applicants had basic knowledge about the job. Employers also recognize the importance of diversity in media representation, viewing non-traditionally educated individuals positively. They advocate for improved practical education and market alignment. This research offers vital insights for both aspiring and established journalists, signaling a shift towards a future where trained professionals dominate the field, ensuring its continued growth and adaptability.

    In the light of corporate scandals, pressure has increased on organizations to communicate

    information related to their corporate social responsibility (CSR). In order to keep up with the

    increased pressure on social commitment, organizations’ self-descriptions may be future-oriented

    rather than reflections of reality. The future-oriented communication may improve the

    organizational culture and thereby motivate staff to perform more efficiently. On the other hand,

    if the organization does not fulfill their CSR communication it could lead to internal skepticism.

    This thesis constitutes a case study of the organization Coop, comprising whether the

    relationship between its CSR communication and the internal perception of Coop’s CSR work

    in store has affected their organizational culture.

     

    In order to answer How does Coop communicate it sustainability work through its external

    communication? and How does the staff perceive Coop's sustainability work? a qualitative

    content analysis and interviews with Coop’s staff have been conducted. The theoretical

    framework consists of Nils Brunsson’s (2006) theory about Organized hypocrisy, and

    Christensen's (1997) Autocommunication.

     

    A conclusion that can be made from the results of this thesis, is that the image communicated

    from Coop (regarding their sustainability work) does not seem to be fully aligned with the

    staff’s perception of Coop’s sustainability work. Coop’s definition of their sustainability work

    had only been acknowledged by some, whereas half of the staff had individual interpretations

    of Coop’s sustainability work. The various definitions of sustainability among the staff led to

    various attitudes towards Coop’s sustainability work, which ultimately resulted in a fragmented

    organizational culture.

    Bloatware är förinstallerade applikationer som i många fall kan vara svåra att avinstallera. Målet med denna studie är att undersöka om bloatware påverkar användarens upplevda prestanda av sin mobiltelefon, samt hur en upplevd försämring av mobilens prestanda påverkar en individs benägenhet att investera i en ny mobiltelefon. Tidigare forskning ger inte en universal definition av prestanda, varpå denna studie sammanställer ett ramverk för prestanda av mobiltelefoner som batteritid, responstid och lagringsutrymme. Begränsat lagringsutrymme, långsam responstid och förkortad batteritid påverkar alla telefonens prestanda negativt. Studien genomfördes med hjälp av en enkätundersökning om användares upplevelser med sina mobiltelefoner och resultaten fördjupades med hjälp av versions- och lagringsdata för bloatwareapplikationer och androidtelefoner från en sekundär källa. Studien konkluderar att bloatware påverkar den upplevda prestandan genom batteritid, responstid och lagringsutrymme, samt att detta, framförallt sett till responstid, leder till en ökad benägenhet att investera i en ny mobiltelefon. Bloatware har möjligheten att påverka användares upplevelser och investeringsvilja med sina mobiltelefoner samtidigt som det inte går att fastställa att bloatware är den enda bidragande faktorn till den upplevda prestandaförsämringen.

    Abstract [en]

    When the covid-19 pandemic started, managers were only able to lead their employees through digital communication. During the subsequent telework a completely new research area, in need of new knowledge, was created. The purpose of this study is to gain an understanding of opportunities and challenges of remote leadership, experienced by managers. This at a time of only digital communication with employees, with no physical meetings or interactions. The study will answer the following two issues, “What factors are important for managers to take into account when applying a leadership style to teleworking employees?” and “Which internal communication functions in the organization have worked better or not according to managers, when remotely managing employees?”. This exploratory study has its theoretical starting point in situational theory, as well as in Richmond, McCroskey and Powell’s six functions in organizational communication. Through semi-structured interviews, empirical data has been collected and then analyzed through coding, thematization and summation. The result of this study indicates that future managers, conducting digital leadership, will need to take each employee's needs and personal situation into account. Managers need to adopt a functioning leadership style, while keeping important factors regarding employees in mind. This in order to successfully lead each teleworking employee through digital communication.

    The Swedish banking industry has long been at the forefront when it comes to digital leadership. Currently, this industry is starting to fall behind other industries, and a closer look at the industry reveals that niche banks are having less trouble with adapting new technologies than bigger banks. There are a lot of studies on specific digitalisation areas within banking but nothing comprehensive about the strategies required for digital transformation within the banking industry. As the research area is new, there is little previous research on digital transformation by today’s standards. Therefore, the centralquestion in this thesis is “What do respondents in the Swedish banking industry think that the most important factors of digitalisation for customer experience are and what the consequences of digitalisation might be?” to find out what affects the digital strategies of a sample of Swedish banks. To answer the research question, semi-structured interviews with relevant profiles in the banking industry dealing with digitalisation and strategy at a management level were conducted.

    The interviews were conducted with five respondents from four different banks. In combination of this research method, the research strategy Case Study was implemented. The results revealed that digitalisation is in high focus amongst all the responding banks, for various reasons. The reasons can be seen as roughly divided into two categories, internal reasons and external reasons. The internal reasons have to do with streamlining current internal processes and creating more available resources for other projects. The external reasons were all towards improving customer experience. To improve customer experience, personalisation of the digital products and services is a key factor. However, personalisation is not without risk, as it may fail to be personalised enough for the banks’ customers if the personalisation is attempted towards a too wide customer segment.

    Some of the banks are operating 100% digitally, meaning that they do not have any physical bank offices for customers to visit, and thus all their work then becomes in one way or another digital work. The banking and finance industry is continually changing, and legal factors play a significant role. Not only do these legal factors affect how banks work internally, they also affect the competitiveness of the various actors and with it, how much digitalisation can affect. The thesis concludes that digital transformation is heavily influencing the strategies of banks in the Swedish banking industry through customer needs, competition and legal factors.

    Användbarhet är ett begrepp som tenderar vara svårdefinierat i processen att utveckla system. Men vad innebär begreppet egentligen? Denna studie har undersökt huruvida den praktiska uppfattningen av användbarhet motsvarar den bild som presenteras i teorin. Genom Hertzums (2010) artikel har vi redogjort för hur de sex olika perspektiven bidrar till att skapa en förstå- else för innebörden av användbarhet. Intervjuer med användbarhetsspecialister har utgjort vårt empiriska underlag som sedan analyserats i ljuset av dessa perspektiv. Resultatet visar på en mångbottnad uppfattning och en rad aspekter som påverkar arbetet med användbarhet. Med detta resultat bidrar vi med en praktisk syn på ett teoretiserat begrepp för förbättrat framtida användbarhetsarbete.

    Abstract [en]

    This thesis explores attitudes towards Artificial Intelligence within the Swedish Public healthcare system. The goal of the study was to attain a deeper understanding of how hospitals and healthcare officials perceive and think about the technology and what it means to them in their professional life. Our primary data was collected from ten interviews conducted with decision-makers at Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm and Akademiska University Hospital in Uppsala. The material was analysed through a discourse analysis, through which four themes were identified, each of which describes a notable attitude among the respondents and how they were manifested. The results show that earlier organizational structures and approaches are more important to the organization members’ sense-making process, than the sense-making process of new technological innovations and implementation. Decision-makers' attitudes towards AI have less to do with the technology itself and more with how they perceive their organizations and what it means to perform healthcare. Furthermore, the results also show that pre-set notions and attitudes about how healthcare should be conducted affects implementation and use of AI in the healthcare sector. This thesis contributes by highlighting a social perspective of AI in healthcare and demonstrates that AI is more than just a technological phenomenon.

    Abstract [en]

    This thesis addresses the regional perspective in the second largest city of Ukraine, Kharkiv, and investigates various self-identification strategies with a particular emphasis on the local and regional element. A specific time period was chosen, starting with the Orange Revolution in 2004 and ending with the month before the Russian invasion in 2022, with a target group consisting of Kharkiv politicians at both the state and local levels. The study was conducted by thematic analysis of interviews, speeches and other statements mainly from Ukrainian media sources in Russian during this period. As the result revealed, identification with the region was noticeable and often manifested under certain political circumstances. There was also a noticeable national-civic consciousness, especially among young politicians in the analyzed cohort. But the themes identified in this study strongly indicate attachment to both the region and the state community as the most prominent self-identification strategy. The results lead to the conclusion that it is necessary to conduct further research not only on the regional units of Ukraine, but also their content, which will contribute to a better understanding of the region within the framework of the nation-building process throughout Ukraine.

    The purpose of this essay has been to study if the CEO of a specific ICA-store are using their employees in order to build the brand that they want for their specific store, and especially if they are using a strategy called employer branding. It is interesting to study this since almost everyone in Sweden gets affected of ICA in their everyday life and it is interesting to study how they have been able to build a brand that is so successful. But also, how they get people to build a relationship to their ICA-store.

    The research questions the study aim to answer are:

    -        Is the CEO of an ICA-store using employer branding in the work to build the stores brand?

    -        Does the CEO of an ICA-store put specific demands on the employees in how they talk and interact with the customers and is there any specific values the employees should represent?

    -        How does the internal communication take place and what is being communicated within the specific ICA-store?

    The theory that we have used for this study is a, from start, economic and human research theory called employer branding but used with a communicational point of view to understand the communication behind employer branding as a strategy to build a brand.

    The material of the study has been gathered through semi-structural interviews which in turn has been analyzed through thematisation analysis. The result of the study has shown how the strategy of how to build the specific stores brand depends on what vision the CEO of the store has for it. It is not decided through centralized rules from the central organization of ICA. How every specific store decides to build their brand is up to the specific store and what they want to achieve.

    Efforts to utilise Twitter to improve communication in Kenya between officials at the Kenya Police and Ministry of Interior, and Kenyan citizens, are researched specifically addressing efforts to use Twitter to report and combat police corruption. The goal is to assess efforts to use the social networking platform to improve communication channels between officials and citizens, through a mixed methods approach incorporating a content analysis of thousands of tweets sent by four separate government Twitter accounts, as well as interviews with Kenyans who have interacted with the accounts on Twitter. In addition, I assess the potential value of Twitter as a corruption-reporting platform. The research builds on existing ICT4D research, Castells’ communication power theory, as well as collective-action approaches to fighting corruption. The results of the research reveal potential problems of incident-focused social media-based corruption reporting in developing collective-action networks focused on fighting police bribery and broader government corruption. The tendency of social-media interactions to be dominated by relatively meaningless discussions limits Twitter’s value as a useful channel for two-way communication between citizens and officials. Social media-based anti-corruption efforts dedicated to building collective-action networks focused on long-term solutions, rather than highlighting individual incidents, may be more effective in fighting corruption.

    Artificiell intelligens sprider sig allt mer och mer inom olika arbetsområden. I denna studie har en kvalitativ fallstudie gjorts som behandlar hur sjuksköterskors uppfattning av framtida användandet av AI inom vården kan se ut. Genom att intervjua tre sjuksköterskor, en e-hälsostrateg och en projektledare inom området analyseras även detta empiriska material med hjälp av TAM för att slutligen ta reda på hur sjuksköterskors attityder kring att använda AI i framtiden ser ut. Resultatet av studien visar att sjuksköterskors uppfattning och acceptans av AI inom vården är delad i två områden där ena är icke-beslutsfattande AI och andra, beslutsfattande AI. Resultatet visar alltså hur sjuksköterskors attityd är positiv när det kommer till icke-beslutsfattande AI och mer negativ vid beslutsfattande AI. Detta då sjuksköterskorna anser att den mänskliga kontakten försvinner vid beslutsfattande AI. Det vill säga vid användning av AI-baserade system som behåller patientkontakt och kan besluta om vilken slags vård patienten behöver. Istället menar respondenterna att maskin och människa går bäst hand i hand.
