    Abstract [en]

In this study I wanted to investigate if childrens´ motivation of reading through booktalks would increase if reading the same book in their class. I have interviewed four pupils in fifth and ninth form in the beginning and at the end of this study , and also their teachers of Swedish on one occasion. I have performed a questionnaire about reading and booktalks in both classes in the beginning of the study. The teachers of Swedish have not used any specific method in their booktalks; therefore it has been difficult to compare the results between the classes. The booktalks and the reading have been done in the subject of Swedish and on rather few occasions. However, there are still some results possible to understand.

The study shows that chidrens´motivation of reading has not changed a lot. However, their motivation to read their mutual classbook has increased through booktalks, especially among the older pupils. The pupils who have been interviewed express that they would like to have booktalks more often if they were to read and talk in small groups.
