    Abstract [en]

In the present situation there is a problem regarding the current foldable map table being used in military command vehicles. A stronger focus on safety and new situations has lead to the need of a new table that’s adapted for the new environment and the users. The project has been performed in collaboration with BAE Systems Hägglunds and deals with the development of a new foldable table for the armored vehicle BvS10 MkII. The main objective was to create a more user-friendly table at a lower price and with less weight. The outcome is largely based on a ergonomics analysis where height and slope of the table top was analyzed using based on anthropometric data. In addition to the ergonomics analysis a concept of how to fold the table as well as an auxiliary mechanism for this has been developed. The final design is modular with respect to the number of seats at the table. The folding is based on two braces that folds like a knee joint. The auxiliary mechanism is based on torsion springs in order to facilitate user operation of the table.
