Introductory overview of surface reconstruction methods

Abstract [en]

We consider the issue of constructing a digital model of a physicalsurface. An overview of fundamental methods is given. The methodsuse measurements of points on the surface in order to compute a mathematicalsurface representation that approximates the physical surface.Different surface representations are presented and algorithms that fitsuch representations to the measurements are outlined. We identifysome of the difficulties and pointers to the literature in the field aregiven.
