Reasoning in Groups : A Study of Group Interaction and the Group's Proposed Solution (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

This study has looked at team work as a teaching method in mathematics. Using structured observations of four groups of fifth graders and text analysis of their solutions, I have studied students reasoning and the use of mathematical representation forms. The study shows that group work leads to students reason and communicate with each other, but it is done differently in different groups. In the light of previous research study to image to group work develops students way to communicate and discuss mathematics. The different groups used in a big way by the same representational forms. This may be due to the design of the task and on curriculum and teaching aids design.
