Abstract [en]

The purpose of the study is to examine how TosFUND, the first Cambodian crowdfunding platform, can be a viable option to complement diminishing traditional donors’ flow to NGOs/CSOs and social enterprises in the Cambodian context. Throughout the analysis of semi-structured interviews with 18 informants including 16 crowdfunding project managers, one co-founder of TosFUND and TosFUND IT person and the content analysis of the 16 project documents including 16 project descriptions and 16 videos, the research has found out that TosFUND could only be a viable option to complement diminishing traditional donors’ flow to NGOs/CSOs and social enterprises only when it could achieve four main elements including ‘regulation and mechanism’, ‘accountability and transparency’, ‘trust’ and ‘right framing of problem and Buddhism's giving concept framing’.
