Collaboration between Social services and the police : A study of collaboration between social services and the police regarding woemen aged 21 years and older who are victims of domestic violence  (English)
Abstract [en]

The main purpose of this study was to deepen the knowledge about the interaction between social services and police authority in matters that are related to women aged 21 years and upwards as victims of violence in intimate relationships, as well as the merits and limitations of collaboration. This study is based on qualitative interviews with six respondents’ from social services and the police. All respondents work in some way with women who have been victims of violence in intimate relationships. We have also complemented our interviews with earlier research and scientific articles. The theoretical approach is the collaboration theory and the new institutional theory, and then we analyzed the results of the study through these theories. Through our study we saw that the legally required collaboration between social service and the police is an important part of their daily work. Our respondents have all collaborated with the other institution but feel that it could be better. According to our responders the collaboration is also inhibited due to shortages in both time and resources.
