Volunteer labor is crucial for the success of sporting events. Without volunteers’ help there would beno implementation of sporting events due to the large costs. According to some researchers there is adecreasing willingness to work as a volunteer in general. The aim of this study is to increase theunderstanding of why sporting event volunteers are willing to continue volunteer for major sportingevents. This study examines which characteristics of supervisor's leadership and conditions affect thevolunteers to return to the event. The data for this study was collected by semi-structured interviews.Six women who all served as volunteers at more than one sporting event were interviewed about theirexpectations and experiences of the organizational support and the supervisor’s leadership before, during and after the event. The results from the data analysis show that these women are most of thetime satisfied with the supervisor’s leadership, and that they believe the conditions for the event aregood. When they feel satisfied their commitment to the organization and event increase. The mainconclusion from this study is that when volunteers feel satisfied with the supervisor’s leadership andthe conditions they are willing to return and serve as volunteers at the sporting event again.
