Abstract [en]

This qualitative study concerns motivation from both a teacher and a student perspective. The aim of this study is to illuminate how a few teachers work with motivation in mind when they plan their education. This study also aims to understand what these teachers are lacking in terms of resources et cetera to be able to motivate their students even further. The result is based on semi-structured interviews with three teachers and four 4th grade students. The result show that the social aspects of school have a huge impact on a student’s motivation, whether it is the home environment, the peers or the teacher. The results also show that both students and teachers believe that an increased use of technology would contribute to a higher motivation regarding school work.
