Ett EU till för alla- även för örnens och solens länder?: En fallstudie om Albaniens och Makedoniens utveckling mot ett framtida EU-medlemskap ur ett liberalt perspektiv

The political criterion within the Copenhagen criteria is an important part of the enlargement in the EU. The question is: Can we see any liberal thoughts when it comes to the political criteria? Yes, we can, more or less. In the political criteria we can read about four various concepts which are about human rights, democracy, the protection for the minorities, and legal certainty (a constitutional state). I write about FYRO Macedonia and Albania which sooner or later are going to be a part of the European Union; they are called candidate countries of the EU which means that they have been approved by the council of ministers to continue their ambition for an EU-membership. But the question is if these countries yet have reached the aim of the political criteria. Are there any factors which are diminishing the democratic progress in these countries? Do FYRO Macedonia and Albania have any liberal values, if not, which are the factors that may cause problems? Is it about the economy, history, social conditions, the employment and politics?
