Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study is to investigate how Sweden’s view of Russia has been over the past seven years. Based on the Copenhagen school of securitization along with other theoretical bases this study has made it possible to show that the political view of Russia is both positive and negative. Through the widened concept of security five political sectors had been provided as a base for the analysis and made it possible to show how the parties have talked about Russia either as a friend or an enemy. To fulfill the purpose Swedish foreign policy debate has been examined through speeches and statements made by politicians that explicitly mentions Russia in different ways. The result shows that Swedish parliamentary parties have generally a hostile view of Russia and sees the country primarily as a military and political threat. But also a social threat to Russias own population.
