Exploiting free-eld PNAH in the presence of a reecting surface

In the scope of developing a framework to perform nearﬁeld acoustic imaging in bounded environments, the behavior of free-ﬁeld methods in the presence of a reﬂecting surface has been explored. Intensive parametrization has been operated on the variables deﬁning the system, and the forward propagation of the pressure ﬁeld has been performed both with a plane wave synhtesis and a wave ﬁeld extrapolation method. The insights gained both from the synthesis of the ﬁeld and from its reconstruction can directly be applied to inverse imaging techniques, determining lower error bounds and providing conservative limits about the performance of the methods. Moreover, a set of MEMS pressure transducer has been analyzed to determine its suitability for the use in nearﬁeld imaging procedures.
