Changes in the History subject : A document analysis of the school curricula from 1994 and 2011 with a focus on historical consciousness, gender and equality (English)
We can conclude that there are differences between the curriculum of primary and secondary school from year 1994 and 2011, current concepts of historical consciousness, gender and equality between men and women. Our paper describes the differences among the four curriculums focusing on the subject history. In our paper we have used an document analysis and our theory is based on curriculum theory. The result that we have presented demonstrate the development of the historical consciousness, it is more developed and divided which makes it more simplified to understand. The gender and equality perspective have various differences, but for the most part the equality perspective are well presented in the curriculum, and more developed in the 2011 curriculum. The curriculum from 1994 have similarities with the curriculum from year 2011 but the word gender is only presented once in the new curriculum for the secondary school from 2011. The result of this paper is that we found the gender concept relatively new, but the perspective is produced in the curriculums through other words like sexuality, female and male.
