Abstract [sv]

BAE Systems Hägglunds AB i Örnsköldsvik konstruerar och producerar olika terrängfordon och militärfordon. De håller just nu på att utveckla deras nya terrängfordon BEOWULF alt. HTT som är ett terrängfordon mer anpassat till civilt bruk. Det kan t.ex. användas som brandbil i extrema miljöer eller som räddningsfordon. Till det här nya fordonet har de i prototypstadiet använt sig av ett äldre expansionskärl som är anpassat för ett annat terrängfordon, BvS10. Det kärlet är för dyrt, tungt och utnyttjar inte den tilldelade volymen nog effektivt. Detta arbetets mål har varit att ta fram en konceptdesign med tillhörande beräkningar och underlag  för ett nytt expansionkärl. Detta ska i slutändan resultera i ett nytt kärl, eller underlag för ett framtida projekt.

 

Under projektets gång har kontakt hållits kontinuerligt med de inblandade personerna och avdelningarna för att få återkoppling och information gällande arbetet. Kontakt har även hållits med underleverantörer, monteringsavdelningen och provansvariga.

 

Arbetet resulterade  i ett konceptförslag vars tester visade att den design som använts måste förändras för att klara de krav som ställts på hållfastheten. Det har även resulterat i förslag på val av material, diverse beräkningar, samt idéer för vidare utveckling.

Abstract [en]

BAE Systems Hägglunds AB in Örnsköldsvik constructs and produces different all terrain vehicles and military vehicles. They are in the middle of developing their new all terrain vehicle BEOWULF alt. HTT which is a vehicle more suited for private applications. E.g. it may be used as a firetruck in extreme environments or as an emergency vehicle.

 

During the prototype development of this vehicle, BAE Systems has been using an older expansion vessel which is suited for another of their vehicles, the BvS10. That vessel is too expensive, too heavy and it’s not utlilizing the assigned volume efficiently enough. The objective of this project is to generate a concept design of a new expansion vessel along with calculations and related documents. This should result in either a new vessel or a foundation for a future project.

 

During the project continual contact has been held with the people and departments involved in this project too keep the information flowing. Contact has also been held with the plastic distributer, the assembly line och the people in charge of testing.

 

The project resulted in a concept design. However, this design proved faulty after the results from the tests came back. These results showed that the design have to be altered to account for the force the pressure applies to the vessel. The project also resulted in a foundation for a future project, with relevant calculation, choice of material and some ideas regarding further development.
