Abstract [en]

The aim of the study is to investigate how teachers work with reading-comprehension strategies with the aid of the teaching material En läsande klass (A Reading Class). It explores the advantages and disadvantages that exist, and the grounds on which the material is used in the classroom. The method employed in the study is qualitative and non-standardized interviews with three teachers of Swedish in the lower level of compulsory school. The schools are all located in the same municipality. My personal experience of earlier periods of teaching practice has also contributed to the study. The result shows that the interviewed teachers think that they make their strategies for reading comprehension clear through the material En läsande klass. This in turn has the consequence that the pupils gain a greater understanding and awareness in their reading and thus develop a more profound reading comprehension.
