: Short- and long term advantages with 3D-modeling of electrical sites (English)
The work has been done at Sweco Industry in Karlstad with the intent to investigate the possibility to construct electrical sites in a 3D-model instead of the usual 2D. Since 3D-models are already in use by the mechanics department the electrical department wanted an evaluation of the advantages and disadvantages this might bring. In the future it’s pretty much already decided that 3D is the way to go, but in what extent and which parts of an electrical site that is especially suited for this was not clear.
To collect facts and opinions about this I have completed several interviews with experienced constructors at Sweco and the program developers AVEVA. The material from these interviews was then analyzed and summarized in this report. I was also given the opportunity to learn the program myself to easier understand how a constructor works and which possible problems that might appear in the daily work.
The main goal with this project was to summarize and analyze the possible advantages and disadvantages that 3D-construciton might include. The hardest part of this work was that, by the start of the work process, no project had been done with this method. This meant that no statistics or information was available and most of the fact had to come from peoples own experiences. At the end of the work process, two projects had been started with the 3D-method. These can in the future be used to evaluate the method.
