Relationella och kommunikativa aspekter i undervisningen: I årskurserna 7 - 9 i en finsk skola

The purpose of this study is to investigate how some teachers in a Finnish school works with communicative- and relational aspects in grades 7 - 9. The study is completed using qualitative data collected through classroom observations and interviews with the six teachers who participated in this investigation. The investigation began with observations and additional questions were asked during the interviews and sometimes directly after the observation time.
The results of the investigation have shown that different teachers use communicative- and relational aspects in different ways and in different extent in their teaching. Some of the teachers said that they have different relationships with different groupe constellations, which they meen depend on the context and that it takes time to create trusting relationships. Regardless of the extent to which teachers used the relational aspects in their teaching all the teachers who participated in this investigation emanated teaching based on the students' experiences in the dialogic classrooms. The study also shows that there was a connection between communicative- and relational aspects. The teachers who had worked with relational aspects in greater extent gave the students the space to discuss what interested them, even if they wanted to discuss subjets that didn´t concern the school subject. The result also shows that good relations creates a trust between teacher and students, which became clear when homework would be checked but also the students' willingness to carry out the mission they were given.
