Abstract [en]

This bachelor thesis presents the practical realization of a project at Outokumpu Stainless ABs steel plant in Avesta, Sweden. Outokumpu is a large organization and the business in Avesta employs 700 workers. The project main objective is to replace a rail- mounted work platform. The thesis only covers part of the project work, from project start till start of manufacturing of the new platform. A pre-study was made including a stakeholder analysis. The end- users were interviewed to gain knowledge about the final design. The design was also evaluated against the regulations from the authorities. The planning of the project was made using a top- down approach. Top-down means that you start with the goal and from it you specify the activities needed to reach the goal. The result of the thesis is a project specification, approved construction schematics and inquiry. This kind of documentation is vital for projects in the Outokumpu organization.
