Abstract [sv]

Syftet med vår studie är att öka förståelsen av arbetsförmedlarnas arbetssituation med fokus på kompetens och ålder. Denna studie består av en kvalitativ undersökning i form av semistrukturerade intervjuer. Intervjuerna utfördes på Arbetsförmedlingen i en mindre svensk stad, där sex arbetsförmedlare i olika åldrar deltog i undersökningen. Resultatet av studien visar att utbildningar, planeringssamtal och reflekterande tid var frågor som spontant togs upp i relation till arbetssituationen. Respondenterna upplevde att kompetens och kompetensutveckling är viktiga aspekter i arbetssituationen och finns tillgängligt för de anställda inom organisationen. Det fanns exempelvis möjlighet till att gå på utbildningar. Det existerar i vissa situationer en ambivalens om hur ålder har betydelse på arbetsplatsen. Respondenterna menar ibland att ålder inte har någon betydelse men betonar senare situationer där det är viktigt med åldersbalans på arbetsplatsen.

Abstract [en]

The purpose of our study is to improve the understanding of the working situation of the employment agents with a focus on their skills and age. This study consists of a qualitative study in the form of semi-structured interviews. These interviews were conducted at the Employment Service in a small Swedish town, where six employment agents of different ages participated in the survey. The results of the study show that education, planning discussions and reflective time are the most relevant aspects of the work situation of the six respondents who participated in the survey. These appeared most frequent during the interviews and the respondents emphasized the importance of education, planning discussions and reflective time. Respondents felt that the skills and competence are important aspects of the work situation and is available for employees within the organization. There exist in some situations, an ambivalence about how age is significant in the workplace. Respondents believe that sometimes age does not matter but the latter stresses situations where it is important with age balance.
