Abstract [en]

On behalf of Markus Rinio, researcher in photovoltaics at the University of Karlstad, a new sample holder for solar cells has been constructed. The sample holder makes it possible to measure the efficiency of the solar cell. The present sample holder that is used is temporary and inadequate. To create more reliable measurements with higher precision a new sample holder has been constructed. To make the efficiency measurement possible a so called solar simulator is used. The solar simulator illuminates the solar cell and this measurement requires that the temperature of the solar cell is constant. A technique that is used for the cooling dur-ing these efficiency measurements is with peltierelment. They allow a rapid cooling with high precision to adjust the temperature. Calculations on temperature adjustment and mechanical function has been done. Different parts of the functions has been tested and evaluated by the production of prototypes and rapid prototyping. The final construction is reliable and easy to use during the exchange of so-larcells. It has an isolated lower contact to make voltmeasurements. It also fixate the solar cell with negative pressure. The new sample holder regulates the temperature and can achive a constant temperature of 25°C ± 0,01°C with correct calibration. A temperature difference at 10°C of the peltierelementen and a temperature difference at a temperature of 10°C in the wa-tercooler is expected to occur while the system keeps the solar cells at a temperature of 25°C.
