Abstract [sv]

Abstract This thesis is about visual effects and its development over the years. Visual effects have opened the doors to a new world of filmmaking where you can create almost anything and make the impossible suddenly become possible, on the movie screen. The purpose of the paper is to look at the development of visual effects and how to use these skills in a smaller film production. Our paper answers the following question:”What does the development of visual effects look like and how do you implement those skills into a smaller film production?” We analyse how they create certain scenes in various Hollywood films to bring to our own production as inspiration. The thesis also explains different parts of the visual effects such as "Chroma key", "CGI" and "Digital compositing". We produced a short film where we took inspiration from the scenes from the analyses and then we presented the results with a discussion and a conclusion.
