Abstract [en]

This research investigates the structural and hydrostatic stability of a barge of two different designs used for deploying wave energy converters (WECs) developed at Uppsala University. The key points examined are structural design, static stability and deployment strategy for WECs. This kind of research is needed for every unique design of a floating vessel to ensure the safety of the vessel. To design vessels and to simulate their structural stability, Solidworks 2014 has been used. The static stability has been analysed with ANSYS AQWA 16.0. The two programs have been used together to answer the questions addressed. We expect that this research will be used as a preliminary study for future development of the deployment vessel.
