Build and construction activities in pre-school : A study about pre-school teachers work and view on build and construction activities in traditional and Montessori preschool (English)
Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study was to examine how pre-school teachers in Montessori inspired and traditional preschools can work with build and construction with the older children, and what views the pre-school teachers might have on the subject.  

The study was implemented through qualitative semi-structured interviews with pre-school teachers. The investigational method was chosen due to the fact that I wanted to gain knowledge about the pre-school teachers’ views and perspectives on build and construction activities, and how they might work with it. Another reason was to examine how the view on, and the work with build and construction can resemble and differ between Montessori inspired pre-schools and traditional pre-schools.

The result shows that there is both similarities and diverseness between the Montessori influenced pre-schools and the traditional pre-schools, when it comes to how the pre-school teachers reason and work with build and construction. To summarize the results, it’s clear that all pre-school teachers that participate in this study involve build and construction activities, but in different ways, depending on how they look at the subject, and which teaching practise they have.

Abstract [sv]

Syftet med studien är att undersöka hur man med de äldre barnen kan arbeta kring bygg och konstruktion i förskolan, samt vad pedagoger kan ha för resonemang kring ämnet, i montessori- och traditionell förskola.

Undersökningsmetoden som valdes var kvalitativa semistrukturerade intervjuer som genomfördes med pedagoger som målgrupp. Metoden blev vald då jag bland annat vill få fram vad pedagoger kan ha för syn på bygg och konstruktion, samt vilka likheter och skillnader som kan finnas i arbetet kring detta  i traditionell förskola samt montessoriförskola.

Resultatet visar att det finns både likheter och olikheter i både syn och arbetssätt kring bygg och konstruktion. Man kan sammanfatta det med att samtliga pedagoger och deras förskolor i studien implementerar bygg och konstruktion, men att de resonerar och arbetar kring det på olika sätt, beroende på vilka utgångspunkter de har och vilka lärandepraxiser de utgår ifrån.
