Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Previous studies have found that insecure anxious and insecure ambivalent attachment predicts staying longer in interpartner violent relationships than do secure attachment. The purpose of the current study was to investigate whether this result was replicated, and whether attachment seemed to have any connection with returning to the relationship after the first breakup. Other known factors shown to influence women's decision to stay; felt economic dependence, felt social support and children had together with the perpetrator, was also studied. The results showed no significant correlation. Possible shortcomings in the study are discussed and the relatively small sample (31 women) and the choice of instrument raised as possible explanations for the outcome of the study.
