Detta tenderar att ge en negativ effekt på deras framtida vuxenliv, både ekonomiskt och socialt. I Sverige har vi ett väl etablerat system av kommunal vuxenutbildning som ger dessa unga en andra chans att studera vidare. Syftet med denna samling av fallstudier (Flyvbjer, 2006) är att analysera och belysa de sociala och pedagogiska faktorer som gynnar dessa studenter att nå sina mål och utveckla egenmakt (Lightfoot, 1985). Det är genom att använda Deweys holistiska människosyn som förenar språk och erfarenhet, yttre och inre verklighet, som djupintervjuer samlats in från tre studenter som får särskilt stöd i studierna. Analysen av materialet genomfördes i fem steg och analysmetoden var meningskoncentrering (Kvale, 1997). I mitt resultatkapitel presenterar jag citat och analys grupperade under följande fem teman: 1. Skolan som en plats för socialisering – med risk för självbilden? 2. Socioekonomiska ramfaktorer och flexibilitet. 3. Skolan som en community av goda relationer. 4. Relationer som bygger på bekräftelse och respekt. 5. Fokus på bildning och egenmakt.

This tends to have a negative effect on their future adult life, both economically as well as socially. In Sweden their is a well established, national, municipally arranged, adult education which gives a second chance to study for some of these young adults. The purpose of this collection of case studies (Flyvbjer, 2006) is to analyse and shed some light on the social and educational factors that might benefit these adult students to achieve their goals and to empower themselves (Lightfoot, 1985). It is by using Deweys holistic approach to human language and experience and combining external and internal life, that the interviews was collected from three students who attend some additional, educational support. The analysis of the material was executed in five steps and following the method of content analysis (Kvale, 1997). In my results chapter I present excerpts and analysis grouped under five thematic headlines;1. School as the setting for social identity making. 2. Socio-economical factors and flexibility3. School as a positive community. 4. Relations building on feedback and mutual respect.5. Focusing on education and empowerment.
