Abstract [sv]

I denna rapport redovisas ett examensarbete för högskoleingenjörer inom produktutveckling med inriktning industriell design. Arbetet är utfört på företaget Mase Brush AB i Eskilstuna och innefattar produktutveckling av ett kassettborstsystem.

 

Kassettborstsystemet används till att sopa bort snö från flygbanor samt för att ta bort eventuella gummirester och smuts under sommaren. 

 

Problemet studenterna fick baserades på en hypotes som skulle bevisas. Därefter har studenterna utvecklat ett koncept som löser problemet. Hypotesen innefattar teorier om en så kallad fläkteffekt som gör att ett luftdrag skapas som drar med sig snö till fel sida av systemet. Detta gör att flygbanorna inte blir helt fria från snö.

 

Studenterna har bevisat hypotesen med hjälp utav enklare datasimuleringar samt tillverkat en prototyp som tester utförts på. För att ta fram ett koncept har studenterna tillämpat olika produktutvecklingsverktyg samt gjort en enkätundersökning och studiebesök på Mora flygplats, Arlanda Airport och Mase Brush AB:s produktion.

 

Fläkteffektens existens bevisades och ett koncept redo för testproduktion utvecklades. Mase Brush har fått rekommendationer för fortsatt arbete och utveckling. 

Abstract [en]

This report presents a thesis for a Bachelor of Engineering in Product Development, Industrial Design. The work was performed at a company called Mase Brush AB in Eskilstuna, Sweden. The work contains development of a cassette brush system. The cassette brush system is used to sweep snow away from airstrips.  

 

The problem is based on a hypothesis, which the students should prove. A concept has been developed to be a solution of the problem. The hypothesis contains theories about a so-called fan effect. The fan effect creates an airflow that pulls the snow to the wrong side of the broom, reducing sweeping performance.

 

The students have been confirmed the hypothesis with simplified computer simulations and some bench tests. To develop a concept the students used different tools for product development. Data and references were collected from a variety of sources, such as customer questionnaires and visits to Arlanda and Mora airports, as well as the production facility.

 

The fan effect was demonstrated and a concept was developed for a first production. Mase Brush has received recommendations for further work and development.
