Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study was to examine whether people who participate in employment measures are more likely to interpret emotional expressions of other people as more negative compared to permanent employees, and to examine whether there was any difference in self-rated self-esteem between the groups. The study consisted of 28 people, with 14 in an experimental group and 14 in a control group. All participants completed a computerized emotion perception test and answered a questionnaire in which they had to rate their self-esteem. The results of this study didn’t show a significant interaction effect between the variables group and expression that were consistent with the hypothesis, but there was a trend toward a difference in self-rated self-esteem, where the control group rated their self-esteem higher. The discussion consisted of arguments why an interaction effect didn’t occur, and the major cause was probably the size of distribution.
