Self-Assessment as learning : A study on the understanding and knowledge of self-assessment (English)
The purpose of this study is to investigate self-assessment and illuminate factors that affect students' development, a study to elucidate the individual teacher and the pupils' understanding and knowledge of self-assessment. The intention of the study is to generate new knowledge. Interest in self-assessment has been developed during my time as a teacher since research on self-assessment has shown positive effects on students' development, and that the properties can be linked to the teacher's assignment under the Education Act and the curriculum. The survey also consists of previous research conclusions that show that self-assessment promotes student development that can give the student increased self-confidence, responsibility and develops pupils' metacognitive ability. As the method for this study, I have chosen to conduct qualitative interviews with four students and two teachers in two schools. Results of this study have found that, in addition to what previous has shown, that the knowledge and perception of self-evaluation in schools is limited. The perception is that there are difficulties with self-assessment, but even so, there is a value in working with self-assessment.
