Students with Asperger´s Syndrom : A study in how the traditional and the special school works with students who have Asperger´s Syndrome (English)
Abstract [en]

The purpose of the report was to compare the differences between a special needs school and a more traditional school when it comes to working with children with Aspergers syndrome. Furthermore I wanted to find out the differences in resources when it comes to helping these children.

I used interviews as a method to elucidate how the schools work with children with Asperger syndrome. I interviewed teachers and special educational needs teacher from each of the two schools to understand how they worked in their respective schools.

I investigated how they used their resources but also what kind of resources they had to work with. When I am talking about resources I am including both the economical resources and physical resources such as books, classrooms and technical equipment. Teaching skills development projects are also included.

In summation I have concluded that my results points to an enhanced capability to take care of children with Asperger syndrome in the special needs school. They use a more individual based way of teaching and the special needs school is adapted for students with Asperger syndrome. The more traditional school have a tougher economical budget than the special needs school which makes it harder for the traditional school to help and individualize the education.
