Denna rapport beskriver VisMT 2. VisMT 2 är en programvara som utvecklats som ett examensarbete av Daniel Peterson vid Linköpings Universitet i samarbete med organisationen NVIS (Norrköpings Visualiserings och Interaktionsstudio).

Målsättningen för VisMT 2 var att skapa en enkel och kraftfull mjukvara som på ett innovativt sätt synliggör resultat och prestanda för butiker i detaljhandelskedjor. Vidare sattes målet att programmet skulle grunda sig i ett explorativt gränssnitt där användaren kan undersöka butiksrelaterade data i både spatial och temporalplanet.

Programmet gavs ett gränssnitt med sammanlänkade vyer. Interaktion i en vy ger återkopplingar för relaterade data i en annan vy i realtid.

Programmet utvecklades i C# .NET och använder Managed DirectX för att generera 3D-grafik. Det slutgiltiga resultatet uppfyller väl den målsättning som skapades vid projektets inledning. Data presenteras på ett tillfredsställande vis och förhoppningen är att VisMT 2 nu skall kunna testas av sakkunniga inom svensk och europeisk detaljhandel. Detta testningsarbete kommer att ligga till grund för fortsatt utveckling av produkten

Abstract [en]

This report describes VisMT 2. VisMT 2 is a software developed as a master thesis by Daniel Peterson at Linköping University in cooperation with the organization NVIS (Norrköpings Visualiserings och Interaktionsstudio).

The purpose of VisMT 2 was to create a simple and powerful piece of software that in a novel way exposes results and performance of retail chain stores. Moreover a goal set that the program was to be based on a explorative user interface where the user can examine store related data in both the spatial and temporal dimensions.

The program was given a user interface consisting of linked views. Interaction in one view gives feedback in related data in other views in real time.

The program was developed C# .NET and uses Microsoft DirectX to generate 3D-graphics. The final result well satisfies the initial goal created in the initial stages of the project. Data is presented in a satisfactory way and the now VisMT 2 is expected to be evaluated by professionals in Swedish and European retail trade business. This evaluation will lay the foundation for further development.
