Abstract [en]

This thesis describes how the development of a mechanical enclosure to an alarmsystem proceeded. The project was made on behalf of Inferno Light Indusec AB.The goal set to this housing would offer a home alarm in which Indusec’s uniquesound system would give the customer a new alternative on the market. They wantedto, among other things, create an aesthetically but at the same time affordable alarm.The aesthetic theme is something that is missing in today’s market. Anotherimportant aspect is that it will follow EN 50131-4, a standard for European alarmsystems.The project was built in different phases: planning, concept, design and results. Thesephases included brainstorming and Gallery method but also other important meanslike information from the Internet, books and existing solutions for alarm systemsalready present.In order to keep costs down an important starting point was to manufacture theproduct with the fewest number of parts and after treatments possible. The featuresthat were implemented in the product should also make it easier to install theproduct. The final concept resulted in two parts: a rear piece, and a fairing to beinjection molded in a type of plastic called polycarbonate “durable plastic”.The result was a CAD version of a complete casing that provides protection andshelter to the electronics needed. Calculations and derivations for what is requiredfor injection molding have been taken into account. The report also describes theproblems that could not be resolved at this time and what recommendations youshould follow.
