Abstract [en]

This thesis describes the design process of a high-resolution digital video camera for use in several ongoing projects at SAAB Bofors Dynamics in Linkoping. An extensive research of image sensing technologies and available image sensors has been performed and a suitable sensor has been selected for the design. The thesis has resulted in the construction of a fully functional proof-of-concept prototype camera that will be used as an evaluation platform to aid in the decision of whether to construct own cameras, instead of buying them on the commercial market, or not.

Initial tests of the camera shows promising results for achieving high-quality images, but more testing and evaluation must be performed before any final decision will be made to build custom made cameras for use in the projects at SAAB Bofors Dynamics.
