Abstract [en]

 Considering the initial value problem for the homogeneous wave equation we find a general solution for it and investigate properties of this solution together with some explicit integral representations. In order to obtain better results regarding the regularity of the solution we introduce modulation spaces. In this context we also consider Sobolev spaces as a special case of modulation spaces.
