Abstract [en]

This research was carried out as an examination essay within the Environmental Science Programme at the University of Karlstad and its purpose was to investigate on how to get young men choose a greener lifestyle. Earlier research namely shows that women tend to be environmental friendlier than men, which was the primary reason for why this essay was written. From an empirical research, an interesting, but not yet unexpected result was established. Laziness, inconvenience and a lack of interest were the most recurring reasons for why the respondents weren’t living a green lifestyle. The economical aspects were also an important issue. From a theoretical perspective, editing out unsustainable behavior can be an influence of great importance. Thus, to get young men choose a greener lifestyle a personal benefit needs to exist and they are also in need of demands from authorities and other influences.
