Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study was to examine perceptions of leadership behaviors in judo. To answer the purpose four active judo performers in the ages 16-19 years (m=17.8, sd=1.5) and five judo coaches, 39-66 years old (m= 47.0, sd= 10.9). Two semi-structured interview guides were created based on the multidimensional model of sport leadership and LSS. The questions asked targeted three different situations; regular practice, training camp and competition. The result from the study indicates that leadership behaviors that was preferred and required depends on both the actual situation and the individuals. The fact that judo performers prefer positive feedback behavior in correlation to training camp and competition but not so much in correlation to judo practice is an example of this. The result was further discussed and analyzed with support from the former research. Implications and suggestions to further work are also presented.
