Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

A growing number young people are suffering from mental illness. Young girls stand for the most dramatic increase. The aim of this study is to identify adolescents most prevalent stressors at the internet community terapisnack.com. Through an investigation of 200 posts differences in gender, age and the presence of multiple stressors were examined. Through a qualitative content analysis results showed that more girls than boys write at terapisnack.com and that the perceived stressors differ between the gender. The adolescents are almost the same age, regardless of their stressor. Many adolescents describe a problem that involves multiple stressors. Also, age differences have been found in the prevalence of multiple stressors. The results may be due to differences in self-presentation and maturation, as well as the importance of internal and external factors of mental illness.
