Methods used in school for students with autism : A study of teachers' practices that are specifically with a view to developing learning for pupils with autistic syndrome (English)
Abstract [en]

This essay talks about how teachers in schools are working with a particular focus on students with autistic syndrome. The aim is to investigate the methods used for these students, who develop their learning and achieve the goals of the school. The methods that were used in this study were two interviews in two different schools in central Sweden where teachers and professionals were interviewed. One part of the study was to compare both schools to see which methods they used and when they used them. My interest for autistic students started during my practice in a school. I realized that there were several students who had autism. The conclusions of this study are that the teachers always start out by what the students need and the shortcomings that they can work with. There is no single method that can help students develop and reduce conflicts created between teachers and students. But all educators who work with autistic children in these two schools have got variety of training courses that develop their reactions to the conflicts and to know how an autistic student thinks in different situations. Some of the most important things in the education for autistic students are support through various methods, materials for students and skill development for teachers.Key words: Teaching methods for students with autism, schools focused on autism, communication with students, students with medical conditions.
