Bonding system of cardboard (English)
Abstract [en]

This report is a documentation of the workflow and the result of a project carried out by two

students from the Royal Institute of Technology in collaboration with a company. The report is

structured in a chronological order and describes the methods and systems developed in the

workflow. The report shows how the project evolved from a study phase to the various proposals on

the concept solutions.

The project aims to develop a systematic way of bonding two different kind of cardboard under five

minutes. By conducting a general study about glue and its different forms it was possible to obtain a

broad knowledge, which helped to choose the right substances to later use in testing on the different

cardboard materials in question. Glues's survey resulted in a list of different substances that were

relevant to the project. Some of the substances were combined in different ways in order to observe

any reactions that would hopefully cause the reduction of hardening time. The tests were carried out

with two different types of cardboard. After all tests begun a concept generation phase which was

performed as a traditional product development process, from brainstorming to concept selection.

The last part of the project gives some recommendations for further development and it’s proposed

a continuous testing of the chosen concept. The project should also be complemental with estimated

cost and environmental analysis to provide a broad perspective of the completed product.
