The aim of this study was to investigate nurse’s experience of working from the philosophy of palliative care in end of life at home. The study had a qualitative design. Semi-structured interviews were performed with nine nurses working in advanced palliative home care. The analysis of the material revealed four categories and two subcategories. 1) Care of patients suffering. 2) Multiprofessional teamwork towards the same goal. 3) Build confidence and trust a) home arena b) staffs way to work. 4) Individual support all the way. Nurse’s experience of working from the philosophy of care in palliative home care did largely agree with previous research and literature. The main difficulties of working in palliative care were when patients were still suffering despite large doses of pain relief and relation problems in the patient’s family. Characteristics that nurses in this study found important when working from the philosophy of care in palliative home care were empathy, sensitivity, self-knowledge, experience and knowledge.
