Abstract [en]

This Master thesis has been performed as part of the Lysekil wave power project at the Division of Electricity, Uppsala University. Power electronics, placed in a substation, will be required as an interface between the wave power plant and the electrical grid. This paper investigates the design of the inverter, gate drive, filter, control system and protections to be used in this substation. Also, extensive market research has been done, resulting in decisions of what components to be merchandised. A PCB has been designed for the drive circuit. The gate drive and an inverter phase-leg have been built and tested. Control algorithms for SPWM have been implemented in LabVIEW, along with the concept of DC-compensation. The drive circuit and inverter outputs agree well with theory and simulations.
